Heather Kadin Exits Secret Hideout After 12-Year Collaboration With Alex Kurtzman

Oh and there's this glorious masterpiece of professional finished fuckaboutery improvement:

A lot of ancient art and relics have been restored by people who have no business restoring art. "Monkey Jesus" was the result of an 81-year-old parishioner who was not up for the task.

...and these are also parody edits? or are the video edits as shown in the yt links restorations of originals?

(meaning: none of this has anything to do whatsoever at all, obviously, with the topic of video parody edits for the purpose of... guess what... fun.)

All three examples are of legitimate restorations gone wrong that actually happened, and there are a lot more. Believe it or not, Monkey Jesus actually got tourism to go up.

Classic legends of professional finished work fuckaroundery, some of which might even be improvements:

These really are well known and popular.

These are all jokes, of course, however objectionable the humor, but fan edits exist far beyond "recut parodies". Grin himself did his entire Dominion War series (which I don't think exists anymore) centered around summarizing and recontextualizing the War in short entertaining chunks (I believe he added the Enterprise-E to the frontlines and some other OOC clips, but my memory is hazy). Ten years ago I watched through one of several Lost Chronology projects that presented that series in chronological order (including some 24-esque simultaneous scenes).

And fan edits go beyond short film clips or long series products. Thomas Jefferson fan-edited the Bible for his own amusement, apparently, taking out the magic and combining the Gospels. Does the Jefferson Bible improve on the original? Probably not, according to religious scholars, but it was given for free to all Congressmen for 50 years and may have shaped American policy.

Yes, I remember some epic Dominion War recuts. Many had the soundtrack from Requiem for a Dream, but I'm not sure if that was Grin as well.

Oh no, Jefferson himself was a "professional finished work fucker"? XD

are you gonna show the connection to our discussion, or not...? ;)

Are you?

These stupid recuts have nothing to do with the original topic, so I wouldn't get on too high a horse.

I've let this go on long enough. If you want to continue posting and discussing fan edits, they go in the Fan Productions forum.

Anything else about Heather Kadin?

Sure: Someone brought up Grin on page 1, then the remaining discussion went on about his videos and the type of videos he makes in general. It never was about restoration of historic art until you brought that up. ;)
I agree that the videos are off-topic, their purpose was to provide examples of the concept several people got confused about.

I don’t think anyone was confused, but in any event…moving on.
