The Book Of Boba Fett

She definitely charged up a goofy and nonsensical holographic entertainment sequence! :)

It's also the only thing from the Holiday Special that you can legally watch now (unless you own a legit copy of the Holiday Special, do those exist?)

When you can watch Rifftrax riffing the entire special on Youtube it feels like it's almost legit. Disney and Lucas haven't bothered much trying to scrub it though maybe it's because they're too embarrassed to claim ownership of it.

And seeing how many complete copies of the Holiday Special are on YouTube I don't think Disney and Lucasfilm give much of a damn. It's easily the redheaded bastard stepchild and black sheep of the franchise and even Lucas keeps a discreet distance from the program.

If it were in any way "illegal" to watch it on YouTube all the copies would have been pulled so I don't have one ounce of guilt when I watch parts of it.

Nausea? That's another story entirely. ;)

I think I enjoyed episode 3 more than the first two. I liked Boba's new crew and his new pet. Is the pet this series' equivalent of Baby Yoda? :D

I'm still enjoying the flashbacks as well.

It was a short one this week but full of story development. I liked it a lot.

I wonder how much lawless Mos Espa is supposed to be. I mean, there is a mayor and it seems there were some bureaucratic activities in his office, still I haven't still seen any police force or similar, so how is he supposed to exercise his power, legal or otherwise?

You thoughts?

Informants and plainclothes police? To keep the people off-balance?

Even if that's the case it's clear a lot of them are being paid off or look the other way so they don't have to file the paperwork.

He didn't as such. He was largely a figurehead and basically fear of the Hutts would keep people in line.

I'm glad they finally shifted the balance more toward the present instead of the flashbacks. This was the most eventful and satisfying episode yet, despite being fairly short. Boba's putting together a nice little band. Some cyborg bikers, Danny Trejo, and a baby Rancor. I never expected them to bring in a pet Rancor and have Boba Fett bond with it like a kid with a new puppy.

Some other cool guest stars too. Stephen Root (arrghh, I wish there were only one way to spell Stephen/Steven so I wouldn't have to look it up every damn time) did a really fun job as the water merchant. And Phil LaMarr did the voice of the Pyke boss, though I didn't realize it until I saw the credits.

It's interesting how the flashbacks paralleled Boba with Luke -- following smoke to his home and finding his adoptive family slaughtered.

Hmm, I figured it would be a mix of animatronic and CGI. Animal rights have advanced since the '70s, so there's no way it would've been a live elephant.

But while I appreciate the commitment to using practical effects, I think the interviewee overstated how much they rely on "What would George have done?" thinking. The metal spider thing at the beginning of the episode was pretty obvious CGI, as was a fair amount of the speeder chase scene, and of course the Hutts are too.

Three episode in, not really loving or hating it. It's watchable, but it is nowhere near as good as The Mandalorian. Couple of comments about this week's episode:

The speeder chase had to be the slowest, most boring chase sequence ever seen in SW. Given that Robert Rodriguez directed this ep, I'm surprised and disappointed. Boba Fett could have just jet-packed himself right into the speeder's passenger seat in about 2 seconds. No muss, no fuss. Don't like the candy colored swoops, either. Give us the ol' Mobquet-S.

They are showcasing a lot of real talent in bit parts here. I guess it's a novelty for a lot of actors to be in SW, but for cryin' out loud, if you can get someone like Stephen Root on board, FFS use him! That said, gotta love Danny Trejo as the new Rancor Keeper.

OK thanks. I thought there probably weren't any real elephants involved, but they did use a combination of real horses and CGI for the Orbachs in Rise of Skywalker, and I think other movies with CGI creatures like that have used horses as standins, so I thought they could have done the same thing with elephants here.

Since he's planning on riding it, I'd say it's closer to someone starting to gentle a new horse.

That's who they were, I thought they seemed familiar.

This was my favorite episode yet.
The cyborg gang is a nice new addition to the cast, although a small part of me is tiny bit disappointed they didn't pull a Killjoy and bring in actors with disabilities to play them.
I was shocked to see Danny Trejo pop up at first, but then I remembered this was directed by Rober Rodriguez.
Loved the stuff with the Rancor, definitely looking forward to seeing more of it. It was nice to see the gentler side of them for once.
I was a little disappointed they killed the Tuskans already, I thought there was a pretty good chance they'd end up being wiped out, but I was hoping we'd get to spend more time with them first.
I wonder how much Boba's history with the Pykes will come into play in the modern day story?

Those kids looked like they came from the Cyberpunk universe. They even had a 80’s look
