Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Can anyone recommend a good vegetarian ground "beef" that would work for Hamburger Helper? I love Hamburger Helper, but I gave up meat, so now I'm trying to find something to replace it with. I already tried the Beyond Grounds and the Morning Star grounds, and neither of them worked. The Beyond was good, but it had a ton of spices on it that just didn't go well with the Hamburger Helper, and I just tried the Morning Star and found it disgusting before it went anywhere near the HH.
Check for Gardein or Field Roast. Boca's ground "beef" works for me in pasta sauce.

I will tell one of the things that I know about stinkbugs and ladybugs. They seek warmth, as we all do, in winter. They hide in cracks and crevices of the house waiting until they feel like it's time for them to Party Like it's 1999.

I always use a thick paper towel sheet to loosely capture a stinkbug and quickly flush the bastard down. DO NOT SQUISH IT!!

I've tried two or three of the Healthy Choice meals with the Gardein "meat" and I couldn't stand it, so I'm pretty much avoiding their stuff from now on. I'll keep an eye out for the Field Roast though, thanks.

Prego has a plant protein meatless meat sauce that tastes good. It has fewer calories, less fat, and less total sugars. I can't tell it from their regular meat sauce.

Only drawback is I'm not finding it in the stores right now. Supply chain issues strikes again.

That's due to Healthy Choice meals sucking.

Today is 4 weeks since my knee replacement surgery. My PT said the first month is the worst, and I hope he's right!

On the plus side, I'm getting around with a cane outside (as opposed to the walker I had to use originally) and without the cane in the house. My docs are pleased with my progress and I've been able to reduce my pain meds. And a miracle happened and I haven't gained any weight.

On the negative side... if I'd known how hard and frustrating this would be, I'm not sure I would have done it. It's hard to sleep because it's hard to find a comfortable position. Doing *anything* takes tons of energy, so I'm tired all the time. I'd gotten used to going to the gym, so hobbling around my house is driving me nuts (and I actually miss the gym!). And I suck at doing my PT exercises at home.

At least 3 months of going to the gym probably made this easier. If anyone is planning on major surgery like this, definitely build your muscles first.

If you've read this far, thanks for letting me vent. :)

You can now get that really snazzy cane with the sterling silver panther/skull/crystal ball top and hidden saber inside it.

Anyone seeing mail and package delivery trucks in your neighborhood past 8-9 p.m.? I wonder if that would make it easier to steal packages on the porch. Or if the driver is more likely to deliver it to the wrong address.

I found out my friends are homeschooling their youngest children, and by homeschooling I mean religious homeschooling. The only people these kids know are at their church. They have no other friends. I wonder how much false information they're being taught with their Jesus-centric curriculum and how unprepared for the real world they'll be.

Yeah, that is a bit scary. I have no problem with being religious, but that sounds like they're inching towards taking it to far.

That seems a bit unusual, I don't usually see them past about 4 or 5. It definitely seems to me like it would make both of those things more likely.

Over here in Los Angeles, I see Amazon's delivery service as the only delivery service that regularly operating that late.

USPS, DHL, FedEx, UPS all seem to end their operations much earlier, like around 5-6 PM.

Different country, but yeah. It's usually Amazon, though supermarket ones are also regulars.

So I mentioned I was exploring cooking.

Today I decided to make some lemon garlic white wine sauce for mahi mahi. I made it before but this time I used real garlic and not garlic powder.

Being new to all this, when the recipe called for two garlic cloves, I assumed a 'Clove' was the whole head. It seemed wrong while I was making it, but I went with it.

It still tasted good, but that was a ridiculous amount of garlic.
