I have some news Star Trek Explorer magazine issue 2 will have an interview with Jeri Ryan and Annie Wersching who's the new Borg Queen for season 2 of Picard.

Someone was rad enough to ask Michelle Hurd to talk a little about season 2 of Picard, where she mentions how awesome it was to work with both John de Lancie and Whoopi Goldberg on the season, and how hilarious it is to see Jonathan Frakes direct Sir Patrick.

Is this the first confirmation of Whoopi actually being in the season? I don't think there's been an official statement.

Is it also the first confirmation of season 2 dropping in February as well? It's not a huge surprise, but until now its just been "2022" hasn't it?

I think they sort of told us February back in September when the Star Trek Day teaser dropped but I could be wrong.

Yeah I remember hearing Patrick saying something about Whoopi filming scenes for season 2 . That fans would like what she and John Delancie stories were for season 2 I'm So excited about what Michelle told told us about season 2.

It might be! Since Sir Patrick invited her to join them for Season 2 previously on The View, where she agreed, and since he’s a producer on the series, and she’s got a relationship with CBS/Paramount+, having starred in last year’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, I figured it was a sure thing.

You’re correct, it was specified as returning in February during this year’s Star Trek Day presentation.

I just finished re-watching Picard all the way through.

The first time, I hated the ending so much it really soured me on the experience as a whole. Especially since there was so much good stuff at the beginning.

I love what they did with Picard, making him a Starfleet outcast. People swearing at him and disrespecting him to his face. I imagine this kind of stuff is what made Stewart willing to revisit the character. A completely different future than we might have imagined from TNG.

I liked his Romulan companions. I loved Raffi. And I didn't really care who played Bruce Maddox (). I thought Seven and Hugh were used nicely.

BUT...once we get to the android paradise planet the show lost me. Androids can do Vulcan mind melds now? Hmm... the Robot Spaghetti Monster is real? Another fucking Soong? Seriously? Data dies again? Captain Pizza Chef to the rescue (does Starfleet have no one else?). And then the final insult..."Hey Picard you're robot now. No special powers or extended life or anything because we knew you'd hate that."

My re-watch didn't change my opinion much. The first 7 episodes were great. I loved this new reality for Picard. The rest...maybe it wasn't so god-awful as I remember, but it wasn't really good either (my opinion, of course). A group of synths on a higher plane across the galaxy waiting for your signal? What?

Anyway, that's my rant for today. I am looking forward to next season, mostly thanks to Q.

PIC has the strongest start of any Trek in 20 years save Trek 2009. It just ends so badly that any chance of Season 1 as a whole winning the Gold medal is lost.

It did kind of fall off the balance beam, bounce on the mat and crash into the judges' table. ;)

It was ready for at least a 9.8 landing and smacked its dick directly onto the balance beam.
