You all have been
busy! I'm meeting my trainer in 30-ish minutes, so a few quick thoughts and more catching up later.
I loved it. I think it was a very strong season opener. The opening was *fun* - which I think was needed. "Butterfly people"!
The Kaminar scenes were lovely, both visually and emotionally. It was great to see how far Saru's people have come since he left.
Poor Book! I didn't see that ending coming AT ALL. Maybe I should have with the crazy beautiful ceremony for Book's nephew. How many cultures have a *real* Tree of Life? Beautifully filmed.
I was very happy at the various promotions and also enjoyed the back-and-forth between Owosekun and Detmer. I like the friendship that's been developing there. I also thought it was nice that Vance got to have his family with him for the first time in who-knows-how-long.
I hate each and every one of you in the most jealous way possible.
I am truly sorry for you and everyone else impacted by The Stupid.
I had the same question! We did the 10-second "rewind" to check and it sure looked like one. Maybe they've gotten birth control since TOS.
Just thought, with all this talk of the Voyager needing a captain, wonder if that might be the perfect spot for Saru.
Ooh! Interesting idea!
I loved all the shoutouts and the space station (and her ships) look AWESOME.
The rescue at the other space station was *terrific*. Again, I love the visuals, especially with the gravity problems. Rough ending there though, especially (I'm thinking) for Tilly.
The new President is *very* interesting! Hubby and I were nodding our heads at her assessment of Burnham, BUT... I realized Michael is also rather Kirk-like in many ways and will not always be on the "good side" of higher ups. Even though the reasons may be different, both hate to lose and will do whatever they can not to do so, especially not to lose lives.
More later after I read all your posts!
