Wonder Woman's Patty Jenkins is Directing a Rogue Squadron Movie

The IGN article, which is also taken the same article, and the bit of the original article I can read without subscribing to the site, actually say that it was "executives including Michelle Rejwan", not Kennedy that Patty Jenkins was having problems with.
I'm curious what's going on with Rian Johnson's trilogy because the IGN article says it's been shelved too, but the one in the link up thread said it might be, just because we haven't heard anything in a while.
So I'm not sure what to make of that.
Like I said before, I was under the impression it was taking so long because he wanted to finish one or more of the Knives Out sequels before he went back to Star Wars.

So first I will say this is the first from an actual Hollywood insider who’s suggested Johnson’s trilogy has been shelved. But I do have to question why a Hollywood Reporter can’t report this on THR itself as opposed to whatever the heck this Puck thing is. It makes it a little fishy. But the gossip here doesn’t look good for any Star Wars film at the moment.

Edit: I somehow missed the “former” part of “former editor.” D’oh.

It's kind of how the article says people would love to do any Marvel or Star Wars movie but once they get in, they find out there just part of a system, that gives you the script and micromanage you.
Creative difference equates to.. I'm pissed off 3\4 of the time from idiots above me and I can't do what I like. I'm miserable... F this im out.
Which is understandable because this is 2 years of your life ..

It's also hundreds of millions of dollars of somebody else's money they're spending in the process (and getting paid for the privilage!)
If they want to make a movie with total creative freedom, they can go pitch their own original IP script. If they want to play in LF's or Marvel's sandbox, there are rules. That's just how it is.

Part of the reason why the "TV" side of Star Wars has been the most successful creatively is at least partly because this kind of thing is perfectly normal in that world. TV directors are used to answering to a studio, of having a show runner and a writer's room to collaborate with. Movie directors are way more used to being laws unto themselves, coming on to projects, altering or totally rewriting scripts (often pushing out the original writer) putting their own stamp and brand all over it to make it a vehicle for their career as much as anything else.

Hell, this is precisely the reason why Lucas hired Richard Marquand for Jedi; he was at the time mostly known for directing TV mini-series and documentaries and thus very willing, and indeed eager to be a team player, willing accept that Lucas had final say in everything.

The funny part of all of this is that the fans would be the first to cry bloody murder if LF fail to maintain brand integrity. Indeed, the last time they let that slide we got 'Rise of Skywalker', and look how that went down!

If this isn't Kennedy's fault it's possibly Chapek's fault but Kennedy has fucked up so many times in this way when it comes to the movies it's hard to not think she screwed this up. Hire a director and make a big deal even though you haven't even come together on a story. This one hurts because I was really looking forward to his one. I love the idea of a Rogue Squadron movie and the fact Jenkins had this desire to do something because of her dad was inspiring. I am someone who liked Wonder Woman 84 so I was not down on her in that regard.

When you get the job, you expect a bit of flexability, Yes, you work for someone, and they control the overall narative, and going in they know that they won't get complete creative freedom. But what it sounds like is that she expected X amount of control, and she is getting Y level, and not happy about it, and WB lets her have more control, so she bailed. Which sucks.

You also get to the point where no decent director will want to work with you. Hell look at Rian, he worked well with them, and yet his trilogy has been on the back burner for years now. And what I just read was KK has extended till 2024? ugh..

Honestly, I don't know what the creative system is like at Lucasfilm, but from my opinion on the outside, it seems like Kennedy is a very competent business side producer, but somewhat less successful creative producer. However, she WANTS to be a Feige-type creative producer, but doesn't have the ability to pick and mold talent the way he does. Sometimes she gets it right, sometimes she gets it wrong, but she isn't consistent. But what do I know, I liked Solo.

She was a very successful producer. Like one of the great ones. Can't take that away from her. She has jut done a terrible job running Lucasfilm. Way to many mistakes in the movie department and it's telling that the tv stuff is working and that's the part of Star Wars she is hands off on. Now many of the movies have made money but then Micheal Bay movies also make money and lots of those D.C films that people complain about also brought in tons of money. Making money with Star Wars in the title is not exactly hard. Making movies that most people love it seems to be harder for her to do. All she has done is split the fanbase. You now also have this trilogy of films that you can't build off so basically everything still has to be connected to the Classic Films. Maybe some to the prequels. At some point they will need to go way back or way forward and just pretend the sequels didn't happen unless they flat out erase them with time travel.
