Jankom Pog insisted on wearing a spacesuit, even though the planet was declared a "safe" (hah, nice call) M-class world.

Jankom Pog is now the smartest character in all of Star Trek history.
And yet he could smell things through it...

It seems like her father trained Gwyn well on everything.
My assumption is that Gwyn was taught all these skills explicitly to take command of the Protostar once they dug it out.
Exactly - the diviner must know the ship pretty well to teach her how to immediately override the command lock-out

And yet he could smell things through it...
Hallucinations happen in the mind ;)

Why the planet should be Hirogen homeworld? :vulcan:
System name: Hirogen
Planet class: M
Conclusion: Hirogen planet

Just say.. The episode was beutiful!
In what way? The scenery!!
Ever since cgi became commonplace I hoped and dreamed that a trek series would show us gorgeous vistas that were impossible during the Berman era.
And honestly this is the first series that is doing that!
It reminded me of the Satisfactory planet

And yet he could smell things through it...

Eh, as above, the hallucination theory works.

But, discounting that, 24th century spacesuits should have no issue allowing its inhabitant to smell the atmosphere. This would be a trivial thing with the suit either mimicking the atmospheric smell (minus toxins or irritants) or even allowing in the atmosphere with a strong filter. I would be surprised if other Trek spacesuits didn't have some sort of olfactory allowance.

I think I figured out where the Fore Torpedo Launcher is mounted.

It's right below the bridge module in that crevice near the tip of the bridge where the CONN station should be located.

The problem with being an adult watching a kids show. (Beginning) Why are they taking the ship to the planet instead of simply teleporting? (End) Ohhh!

If they have the ability to land the ship they might as well. Also, they are still learning how to use the ship, so maybe they haven't gotten to teleportation yet.

And for anyone saying "Starfleet doesn't use sleeper ships in this era" that doesn't mean Tellarites and their own space organizations can't still be using the technology for long-term travel.

They could've left a long time ago and that's why Jankom doesn't know about Starfleet, it may not have existed when they left.

That’s what ‪‪I was thinking as well, a sleeper ship implies at least the potential for it being a very long journey that began some time ago.

Khan was asleep for 271 years and didn't physically age a day. It's possible these kids are all far older than we believe them to be.

Very good point! Who knows how long any of them could’ve been cryogenically frozen, or held in stasis.

well, it was an illusion. Was I the only one to get a galaxy quest vibe there?

I don’t think the kids know of the transporter, in fact I think it will be a big reveal in a future episode.
Which kinda implies that the Protostar doesn’t have a proper transporters room, otherwise they would have found it while exploring the vessel. makes sense, as by the late 24th century having those is a bit redunyant.

Who knows, the Protostar may not even have transporters.

Indeed, if it's a cadet training ship (as I suspect it is), then that would make sense, wouldn't it? Cadets would need to be trained to get along without transporters, in survival situations...
