3D interiors in Blender

This design is growing on me even more. My one question is how well the captain can see the view screen from the chair. I always thought that was the reason why they removed the platform after filming The Search.

@Rory1707: Thanks!

@Orbing Master: Glad you like it! Must admit I hadn't noticed the similarities (not a big fan of the La Sirena interior style), but it does have some resemblance now that you mention it.

@The Green Monster: lol, Riker would certainly ask for more angled console stands. :p

@valkyrie013: Ahh, thanks, that'll be very useful! :D

@batboy853: I doubt that had anything to do with them removing the platform after 'The Search', as the Captain's visibility to the viewscreen is still terrible, as the helm was placed in another platform for some reason. Without a sunken area as on Voyager, there's no way the Captain can see the viewscreen properly with a centrally placed helm, the Pasteur bridge had the exact same problem. As for how visible the viewscreen is on the Thunderchild, it's better though not perfect:

I've completely redid the chairs today. Some materials still need tweaking and the Captain's isn't totally done yet though. Not sure what I'll do regarding controls for the Captain, I don't like the panels on the Defiant, so I might do something unique more inspired on the Sao Paulo command consoles.

@cardinal biggles: Yeah, those metallic bits on the 'The Search' bridge consoles were pretty unique. I replicated them here mostly so that these consoles don't look so much like all the other consoles I've done before. :p
It's definitely unique, but I can see why they replaced them first chance they had; the added displays are more visually interesting, and also brought the Defiant's consoles in line with the three-level ergonomics of the TOS and TOS movie bridges.

@cardinal biggles: And for the good of the necks of all the actors using those stations to look at monitors hahaha.

Lots of little details added everywhere around the bridge: the perimeter consoles are now completely detailed, with the missing elements added including the metal striping and the access panels near the ceiling; the lower level carpet now has a proper pattern around the perimeter; I've continued to detail the helm console; and several other minor things all over.

I know it's a tiny thing, but I love this railing!

(the rest is great, but I love the railing)

@danellis: Haha, I do like it a lot myself to be honest, it's so sad we only saw this style of rail in one episode!

@Finn: I actually thought of adding some, given the replicators and the "long hours" of tense missions a tactical ship might face. There are flat surfaces on all consoles, so in a sense it does have them. :lol:

@Rory1707: Thanks mate, glad you do!

@Santaman: Hahaha, thanks!

I've worked on to some LCARS today, mainly to add these known colors in so that I can tweak the other materials as needed. Also, the area I had assigned for the keyboards on the helm was too thin, so I made it taller, plus I also added some metallic stripes at the top of it to better match the rest of the consoles.

In the end I didn't like how the central portion of the helm console looked like, so I did a new design for it, maybe a bit more classic, but now I'm considering it finished.

If the railing had looked more like what you've got here, I might have missed it when they took it away after "The Search." I thought that "cage" they built around the back of Sisko's chair was ugly as sin (and it didn't look much better the first time when they used it on the Sutherland bridge in "Redemption II").

I meant the rail identical to the one I'm using here used on the Defiant transporter pad, only seen in 'Past Tense'.

@Rekkert, this is shaping up to be my new favorite of all the bridges you have done! Just the concept of taking the Defiant bridge elements, mixing them up, expanding and rearranging them is a stroke of genius. I never thought I would see something like this. Funnily enough, this gives me even more appreciation for the bridge set of the Defiant. It wasn't huge, but they certainly managed to give it that 24th century submarine look. Which you captured here perfectly, only in widescreen, so to speak. Looking forward to the finished renders!
