While I want to make a smarty pants comment about "wow, the new mace, laser pointer and gun features on modern smartphones are amazing", I well aware that unfortunately such dangerous devices can indeed be disguised from standard form.

There's a sucker born every minute, I suppose. Unfortunately for Alec's self defense, um, defense, there's video of him entering a flurry of commands into O’Halloran's phone right after he slapped it out of his hand. That's consistent with the claim that Alec was trying to delete the recording in progress, and completely and utterly inconsistent with the premise that Alec was trying to avoid being harmed by a firearm, mace, or laser pointer.

Maybe he was trying to disarm it:guffaw:

Ummm...what?
I'm not defending Peters in any way. Or suggesting O'Halloran carries weapons. But dangerous items/weapons can be disguised.

I've seen a few frightening ways weaponry is disguised when trying to be smuggled on customs/border patrol shows. For personal use, the same is possible. Plus, hasn't the home 3D printed gun 'industry' had to have legislation created in various countries to prevent its use?

Of course, and Alec simply brought up the point in his courtroom hearing to lay the groundwork for his defense against an assault charge. He and his minions are desperately working to provide some kind of legitimate basis for his actions.

It's kinda strange and depressing to think that there are good people out there right now who's future includes a brief period of being feted by Peters followed by a long and sustained war of attrition via the court system and online abuse.

Just say 'no' kids....

Is that what actually happened or was he just attending the con and decided to face down AP since he was there? There’s a big difference between the two. His actions re how he confronted Peters were idiotic, but that’s another matter.
The whole thing is childish for both parties. You have a guy who has been saying for YEARS that you stalk him........so what do you do? Confront him while wearing a Facemask.....laying the groundwork for a narrative that any lawyer could take advantage of........:brickwall:

I'm not disagreeing with that. What I was questioning was @SITZKRIEG! 's assertion that...
Yup. Spend thousands on a family vacation with your wife and kid(s)? Nah. Fly across the country to do something dumb just to prove the other guy is even dumber and then spend thousands more on the legal fallout. That'll show the other guy!
...and if that was the case, or if Shawn just happened to be attending the con before he foolishly confronted the Con.

He was invited by Paul Jenkins to hang out with him and work in his booth at the con.......so I'm guessing it was just a few hundred vs thousands. Attending the con isn't my business, nor are his finances. I was simply stating that if I had been there I would have just steered clear of LFIM.

Here ye go...
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DHann Productions is pleased to announce its exciting new film project- CAPTAIN GARTH: A STAR TREK FAN PRODUCTION. Based on the character from the original Star Trek series, CAPTAIN GARTH will follow the highs and lows of Garth’s starfleet career post the Four Years War and prior to the original series episode “Whom Gods Destroy” and aims to give an insightful look at one of the most fascinating and tragic characters within the Star Trek iconography.

CAPTAIN GARTH is being produced in the province of Newfoundland, Canada, and is produced by Darren Hann. The production team includes various members who have brought the geek fandom favourites like STAR TREK: RELIANT (web series) 11 Episodes, STAR WARS: Inner Demons(short film), STARGATE: REPLICATION (short film), and PLAN 9.5 FROM OUTER SPACE (short film) all of which can currently be found on youtube and Vimeo.

As per the Fan Film Guidelines set by Paramount and CBS, CAPTAIN GARTH will consist of two 15 minute episodes, shot with a cast and crew of amateurs, and is self-funded.
AP will see this as a direct attack against him. Big shot taken off his bow. This is going to get profoundly entertaining. We are going to need a LOT of popcorn...

I am curious if they, too, will be using FASA source material for this project.

I’d almost suggest Peters would try a lawsuit here but I think even he would have a hard time coming up with cause. “This guy stole my idea for a fan film for something I already got sued for stealing?”

Even Peters isn’t that moronic…

Unless…? :shifty:

Seriously, I wish the production the best of luck. I imagine we’ll see this before we see Axanar.

Thank you. And if I may quote from one of Scott Bakulas' characters "oh boy!"

IIRC, someone was making a documentary about the whole Axanar debacle. They will have to add a whole new chapter for this one coming up, I think.

Another Garth fan film that's not Peters. Man, I wish "Whom Gods Destroy" was never made, or at the very least wiped off the face of the Earth. Along with Alec Peters.

Darren is in no way connected with the Axanar scam. He's produced nearly a dozen Trek Fan Films without holding his hand out for donations. I'm happy to see him get back into it.
