Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Just spitballing. Who on late 24th century Earth DOESN'T have the bare minimum of a replicator, clean water and heat or air? It's probably within reason to assume the poor woman didn't go out to the middle of nowhere in a trailer that has broken food preparation devices and malfunctioning or no air and heat.

Even potheads and heroin addicts try to have a working fridge and something in which to cook food.

Indeed. The whole poverty thing is telegraphed visually, but is a poor comparison to current poverty. Raffi might be a conspiracy theorist, but she does not quite equate to current struggles.

To be fair, that's not a bad bit of social commentary too. Raffi is jealous of Jean Luc even though that she'd be living in the height of luxury on Bajor post-occupation.

Sort of like Grimes on the Simpsons. "YOU LIVE IN A PALACE! I live over a bowling alley under another bowling alley!'

And how did you determine she has the "best appliances one can have", according to 24th century standards?

Although the show was in the can before COVID, masks, and questioning vaccines ever became a thing, I found it somewhat disappointing / irresponsible that they chose to follow the "kooky conspiracy theorist shunned by society is actually right about everything and really the hero" angle...
Sometimes conspiracy theorist are right. Like with JFK and Bobby Kennedy and MLK and even the most recent lab leak theory on how Covid got started. Usually if you stay away from the more paranormal and science fiction ones and ones that are created by cults and hate groups you might have a chance the conspiracy is true or has some truth in it. Not that the whole truth in all of its glorious details will every be fully known.

Whoa! There is absolutely no conclusive evidence that COVID was leaked from a lab. You probably want to stay away from such an assertion (maybe that's what the Old Mixer was hinting at).
Nothing conclusive but the way it was dismissed as crazy talk early on was pure politics.

Dude. I almost put "seriously?" and then remembered some of the shit I've heard my parents say. :brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:
What I heard was the buildings had bombs in them that were timed to go off when the planes hit. I do recall the hologram idea but I thought the bomb theory was the main theory. What I also remember was that idea you could see Satan's face in the smoke. Anybody remember that one?

I came across a news story on Dark Horizons that mentions Santiago Cabrera was going to be a series regular for Flight Attendents season 2.I wonder if he'll have a smaller role as Rios for Picard season 3.

His role on Flight Attendants is recurring, rather than regular, according to the press I saw. What it means probably depends on whether or not Flight Attendants S2 is already filming - if his role there doesn't begin until after Picard is in the can, then it may not mean much. S3 is already well underway, after all.

Cabrera hasn't mentioned it yet on his social media, which suggests he doesn't see it as a big part. He only makes the effort on social media for major roles.
