Babylon 5

I would be 100% down for more from the B5 universe, though I'd rather they not touch the major players with so many cast members having left us.

More Crusade would rock my socks. That show was just starting to get interesting when it was cancelled. But the Technomage books kind of covered a lot of what I think Crusade was aiming at.

But there are some cool ideas the show teased, but never showed us that might be fun to see, particularly if they are going to an animated medium. Stuff like G'Quan's crusade against the Shadows during the last war, when he along with the last surviving Narn telepaths pushed the Shadows of Narn. Or some more of the first war, pre-Valen. Or the Dilgar War. Or anything set after the main series. You have such an interesting world to play with.

Boxleitner and Christian made a point that there was a reason why they (those two plus Tallman, Mumy and Jurasik) were all together at a dinner several weeks ago. There were a number of photos posted. I'll be interested in seeing whatever might come to be since it looks like JMS is in charge.
Very curious. But, again, we've been here before. Although...reviving old classics has become very popular these days, made easier thanks to streaming and far more platforms in general.

JMS has also said there are two different potential projects in play, so it's possible the actors got together for the other thing and not the animated project.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense to me. Some gathering of the remaining actors in live action and then maybe a Crusade continuation in animation.

I can't say Crusade or LotR (heh) impressed me enough that I really want to see more done with either of them, though I grant that both might have become better over time.
I loved certain parts of Crusade and the potential the show presented. It also helps that I've read the three unfilmed scripts which demonstrated the show was about to kick into high gear (including a Bester appearance!). I would love to see the show get a second chance and without TNT's godsawful meddling.

As for Legend of the Rangers (you ain't the first one to notice that!), I agree that it was pretty weak and other than G'Kar's cameo, I don't really remember much about it. I think only the potential of the show is what interests me in seeing it continued in animation.

I wouldn't really like to see the Telepath War without Walter Koenig, and I'm assuming having Bester without recasting at this point isn't really an option. I could see Pat Tallman being up for it, though they might have to adjust the original timeline. Maybe an animated version if Walter was up for voice-acting Bester?
Yup, I completely understand those reservations which is why I think animation would be the best route. No worries about not looking the right age and I can deal with the voices being a bit off. Big Finish has gone a long way in helping me with that (and some actors, like Tom Baker, got a lot better over time).

I doubt JMS has any interest in it, and I'm not really sure there's a ton of potential for it, but given how much I've been enjoying "What if...?" I'd be curious to see a B5 version of such.
Yeah, plus we miss out on a lot of great possible stories because so many of the original actors are no longer with them. While What If...? doesn't have any qualms with recasting some roles (although no deceased actors) and I mostly don't mind, I'm not keen on that happening here.

Certainly, although the three unfilmed scripts also show there's still a lot untouched potential to cover.

But, yes, everyone should read that trilogy. Magnificent writing! Same for the Centauri trilogy.

Yeah, I'd be down with any of those (well, I don't really care about the Dilgar War) in any form.

If a B5 story is depicted in animated form, what style would suit it best? I think supposedly photorealistic 3D CGI can still be a bit too uncanny valley - especially as we've seen the characters played for real. I can't see the actors putting up with doing motion capture as well as voice work - the actors are getting on in years, let's face it. ABBA doing it, seemingly to hide their decrepitude, is ridiculous.

I don't think a mix of styles would fit - it worked for Into the Spider-Verse but there it was appropriate as it involved multiple universes. I'm scratching my head - maybe something along the lines of the original Ghost in the Shell or later SAC anime style.

I know I've harped on this before, but just changing the soundtrack for Crusade would, for my money, help a lot. I know JMS was trying for something different, but I just found it jarring, and I mean that objectively, not just by comparison to the music used for B5.

Most of what I remember about LotR was the Balrog and Gandalf the W...
...
...
...most of what I remember about LotR was the...innovative...weapons system and that I felt G'Kar was camping it up a bit, which I didn't think was a good direction for the character. :/

Prodigy/ clonwars-badbatch style cgi would work well. Not lifelike but can tell it's them.
I woukd think b5 woukd work well in anime style.
Like legend if galactic heros or some gundam shows.
I'll take any type of continuation.
He'll for crusade just start over with whatever cast wants to return and start at episode 1. And run it like there was no gape of 20 years.

I would love to see the Telepath War or Crusade as an animated show. I doubt Crusade would get revived in any form, but the Telepath War I could definitely see. It would probably require minimal backstory in-show and be a nice jumping on point for new viewers.

I wouldn't mind a continuation of the Babylon 5 Universe after David Sheridan II has grown up.
Since Mira Furlan has passed (May she RIP) and we know John Sheridan would've passed before Delenn according to the time-line.

We can have a B5:TNG (The Next Generation) kind of feel by focusing on the world at hand with David Sheridan II as the lead.

His father, John Sheridan, can be a AI voice / Hologram to help David Sheridan out when he needs it or wants to hear voices/advice of his father, or learn about the past. I beg the Universe that Bruce Boxleitner sticks with us for a long time.

Neat idea. Boxleitner served well in the mentor role in the painfully short-lived Tron: Uprising (I'm still pissed about that...).

Bruce or not, I would love to see David and his adventures!

Keep in mind that we've been told that there was a reason for Boxleitner, Christian, Tallman, Jurasik and Mumy to have gotten together besides just that dinner so it seems reasonable to assume that whatever story is told, they'll all have a part in it.

Delenn also most likely outlived Sheridan Jr so it’d have to use the conceit that Delenn is in seclusion somewhere.

Or at least, he would have to make it to 100 to outlive her.

It's an obvious riff on A Canticle for Leibowitz (1959) by Walter M. Miller Jr.

Why only the Rangers appear to intervene covertly to re-establish a technological civilisation and seemingly no Earth colonies or Mars can be bothered beats me.

Given the bad blood between Earth and Mars in what we've seen on B5, I can see them not caring about Earth.

The other colonies... it's very possible they has a similar relationship and just shrugged their shoulders. Even Marcus just described Earth as just a place where they sent a huge amount of taxes to. His tone suggests he dudn't really care much about Earth, and he was a heroic guy. The average population likely thought far worse.
