Spoilers What If...? discussion thread

Man. All respect in the world to him for soldiering on, but you can hear Chadwick getting sicker with each episode. :wah: There can't have been a single dry eye in the recording studio the whole time he was there.

Also with each passing episode, the Watcher looms larger and clearer in the background. Nice little detail there as he watches all these universes going wrong... and edges closer and closer to interfering.

Except no one knew he was sick. He told only a few people. Even Ryan Coogler didn't know.

Oh, nice catch. I passively noticed that he was becoming more opaque but didn't think about it.

Was Ramonda a general in the movie? That really caught me off guard, I don't remember there being any indication in the movie that she was involved with the military.

This episode was set a decade before Black Panther. I would assume that Ramonda eventually passed the generalship on to Okoye.

Disney must have known though. I’m sure he wouldn’t be allowed to keep that a secret if he was signing a multi year contract with them.

Uhh, how would they know? It was a secret. As I understand it, he kept it from his employers precisely because he didn't want to face the kind of health-based job discrimination you're talking about. He had a right to medical privacy.

Yeah... I wasn't going to say anything, but I heard it too. Just gave me chills... But then I wondered if I heard it because I was thinking about how sad it was while I was watching. Kind of like our brain knowing the guy was dying, and so we heard something that wasn't there.. I dunno.. Any way you look at it, it's just so damn sad.

More importantly, "Jensen" is a surname of Scandinavian origin, while Ho Yinsen is Chinese in the comics, and in the MCU is an Afghani played by an Iranian-American actor (albeit still inexplicably with a Chinese name, and a mispronounced one IIRC). So it's a bit more than just a spelling issue.

No, it's still a simple spelling issue. You're making something bigger for no apparent reason. Just let it go Chris. I f***ed up, it's over now. :)

Honestly, I remember now -- I wasn't even correcting you, I was asking for clarification. "Jensen? Who's Jensen? Oh, wait, could they mean Ho Yinsen? Better ask them if that's who they meant." Because I really wasn't sure. Sorry it got out of hand after that.

Ah, ok. Well, in that case my response to you was definitely out of proportion, I'm sorry. I'm glad we got this sorted out.

Yes, Yinsen, literally the ONLY other person in the cave with Tony Stark, who was mentioned by name. You don't exactly have to be Sherlock Holmes to solve this mystery caper. Maybe read for context instead of reading for how quickly you can correct someone by throwing Wikipedia at them next time.

Folks, this is the internet, sensible, amicable and well-mannered resolutions like the above are generally frowned-upon.

I mean, not everyone has an encyclopedic memory of a movie? The first Iron Man came out over 10 years ago. God forbid someone no longer clearly recall if Stark met anyone other than Yinsen in a cave.

Now THAT would make an for an interesting twist on what Tony could become. Still with shrapnel in his heart, and an chestpiece. But not learning about understanding and compassion. But about revenge and hatred.
I agree. That would be a really cool story!

It was interesting seeing Killmonger manipulating everyone a bit more successfully than he did in the movie.
I could tell I liked this ep because I kept talking to the characters - "Dude! He's totally manipulating you!" Much more in keeping with how smart he was supposed to be. I was happy to see that Kid!Shuri and Pepper were on to him. I know some of you found the ending ubrupt, but it seemed a natural stopping place to me, and we may see more of this later.

I don't see why the reasons for it matter. Everyone makes mistakes. There's no need to get defensive about it. It's just something that needs to be fixed, that's all. Like someone's fly being open. Telling someone their fly is open isn't a personal attack or a judgment, it's just letting them know there's something they need to fix. It doesn't matter why it's open, it just matters that it gets fixed.
True, but I believe Mage is a native Dutch speaker (in which "J" sounds like English "Y"). So it's certainly an understandable slip, especially when he's making the post while simultaneously cooking dinner as he stated.

Kor

There is a spell check tool currently actively in use here, so please let it do its job and move on.

According to spell check the correct spelling is Jensen. :)

ETA: sorry, I know it’s a faux pas to go on after being mod scolded. On a serious note I don’t know that spell check for proper nouns is the answer but I get the gist of the message
