The actor playing Hemmer, Bruce Horak, is legally blind in real life. I believe he as about 9% sight.
I was going to like that and then thought "wait...I'm liking that a man is blind?" so instead I'll say I appreciate the info.

A descendant of Khan's... We'll see. My big fear is that it'll retroactively make Kirk and crew look really foolish in "Space Seed."
I don't see what's wrong with liking the fact that a blind man is playing a blind character. It's great representation.
The best-case scenario might be if it’s never commented on at all.
I sincerely doubt they gave a main character the same surname as Khan not to comment on it.
Hoping for it. It would make me laugh, especially to see all the hand wringing and fan theorying in order to make it all squish together. The best-case scenario might be if it’s never commented on at all.
How?A descendant of Khan's... We'll see. My big fear is that it'll retroactively make Kirk and crew look really foolish in "Space Seed."
Chapel's appearance is already in question with how it fits with the Roger Korby stuff. It'll be interesting to see some of the more minor TOS characters like Uhura, M'Benga, and Chapel get some more development. At the same time, I'm a bit torn, because I know they'll inevitably contradict stuff that TOS established or implied at some point.
I like the idea of an Aenar being in the crew, as the Andorians are one of the less-developed alien species in Trek.

My hope is that it's as beautifully written continuity-wise as Better Call Saul (probably the best prequel ever in terms of fitting with its parent series), but I know it's much more likely we'll be seeing a lot of retcons.
Shockingly I'm in agreement with you.I hope not. That's the stupidest thing.
If a descendant of Khan served aboard the Enterprise a decade before, it makes Kirk & co. look really slow on the uptake for not realizing who they're dealing with sooner. How?
That I'm fine with, as it's never said in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" that Chapel wasn't in Starfleet before. Kirk says, "I understand you gave up a career in bio-research to sign aboard a starship." I'm assuming that means she was just on another Starfleet assignment elsewhere.Chapel's appearance is already in question with how it fits with the Roger Korby stuff.
Yeah and I'm pretty sure they didn't keep the family name of a dictator.I'm sure there are many real-world examples of this.
In Greece we had 3 dictators during the 20th century. All their decedents, among them a novelist and a famous politician kept their notorious last names. Three centuries later? Yeah, I don't see an issue.Yeah and I'm pretty sure they didn't keep the family name of a dictator.
