The daughter of the film will be grown up and running the farm, now married and with some kids, who might be teens or at least one is a teen. She and her family still love watching the ball games but she misses her dad who died and secretly hopes to see him come through the cornfield. Her mom is living in a nursing home but comes by from time to time along with uncle Busfield whose character name I don't recall. Maybe she even has to go on a adventure to help the son of James Earl Jones who also might show up. Basically Costner does show but maybe not until the final episode or maybe even earlier as the character is then able to move past that onto another arc.
