Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

Yeah, I knew about Keaton and about the rumors of Holland showing up in the Venom sequel (even if that still seems unlikely), so I guess I just conflated the two and just assumed Hardy was going to show up in Morbius as well. It's the logical expectation.

Nice to see a movie actually getting moved forward, even if it is just by a couple weeks.

I guess they were really looking at Dhang Chi, which according to Bix Office MOJO had made 94 million in the US...which is really good considering the pandemic. Oct 1 seems like a good midway to get the audience once Shang Chi has died down, but also enough time to get audience share until Eternals. And really makes sense for the Halloween month

No Time to Die comes out a week later and then Dune two weeks after that. It's going to get crushed either way. It'll have one good week and that's it.

I can't remember what other movie had a similar circumstance (One week) before competition stole it's thunder. Batman VS Superman?

Also the post credits scene have allegedly leaked

The symbiote tells Eddie he'll show him 'one second' of what he and his kind have went through, and Eddie is transported into the MCU where he sees Holland on the television with the Symbiote remarking that he hates him but admits he looks 'tasty'

Also they're hype up the post credits

So, I guess that

Venom is set in an alternate universe? It makes sense. I'm wondering about Morbius, though. Michael Keaton had at least a cameo in that as Vulture, as seen in a trailer, so I guess some of these random Sony Spider-Man related films might be canon to the MCU, but others not depending on the story.

I'd completely forgotten that this was a thing. The Michael Keaton cameo was nice, but not enough to lure me into the theater.

My money is Keaton is playing the Venomverse Vulture not the MCU Vulture - well, the same character, I honestly can't remember his characters name, but without the vulture tech, because there was no attack on NY.

Have there been any updates on what is (or is not) happening with the reported new Silk series?

I'm still hoping that Sony and Disney might one day agree to add Cindy Moon to an on-screen incarnation of the (new) agents of ATLAS. Hopefully this series - should it actually happen - might make such a team-up a more viable option.

Silk is still happening. There were delays related to covid. Here is the latest...
