I would love to see Routh back as an older more expierenced Superman
That could work. Maybe for season 4 as this season seems to be Red Hood and Firestar focused
Routh has been pitched to them in his own Superman show. Watch this space.

It's a movie. They don't want to waste time on "what are those other 20-odd Earths about, then?"
Why?
From the scripts I've seen they're really not that different. And I've noticed that we're starting to see a lot of TV/movie writers moving over the comics, and the other way around.
I think the most popular version of that right now would be Injustice.
They're doing that in comics in the new Superman series that are going to be starting soon. He's going to be leaving Earth to hero in other parts of the universe, and will be leaving his son Jon as Earth's Superman.
But he already sort of got it in the Arrowverse.
For a while there, calls for more Routh Supes were usually framed at Tyler Hoechlin’s expense, which I didn’t much appreciate. But now that the latter has cheerfully force-fed his detractors every negative word they ever uttered, I’d definitely be down for Routh’s return as well.
How did this get turned into a Routh thread?
Eh, probably because nothing's really known yet about Jordan's project beyond the fact of its existence. But I'm definitely excited for it (though not for its mode of presentation

The version of Supes that Routh played in the Arrowverse is the character he played in Superman Returns (and the same character played by Christopher Reeve).
I am very, very, VERY confused. I had absolutely no idea there were so many different versions of Superman. 
Hell, I didn't even know there was a Superman who isn't Kal-El!

I was even thinking beyond his chance to play Supes as well. South had a good run in the Arrowverse which is better than he got out of one movie that failed to make money. Granted he got unfairly fired so they could save money and the show hasn't been ad good since but he did like I said have a good run.
