Contest: ENTER July 2021 Art Challenge - Blue & Gold

The theme for this month's art challenge is my favourite colour combination: Blue and gold. Lifeforms or livery, technology or fashion, whatever your chosen subjects from the Star Trek Universe, blue and gold must be the featured or prominent colours. And I want to see that gold glittering and gleaming!

Here are the rules for the challenge:

• the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge*
  
• only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
• your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)

Please submit your entry by the end of the month, midnight on Saturday 31st July. Good luck!


* Although, for those of you who already have an existing asset** you'd like to use (such as a CG starship model, for example), feel free to do so as long as all/part of it is recoloured blue & gold and it's in a brand new composition.
** Don't worry, I won't be using my cardboard cut-out Bolian threesome again

I have to admit - every time I see this thread title, the first thing that pops to mind is the USN’s ‘Blue’ and ‘Gold’ crewing concept for the submarines… where there are two separate and distinct crews (Blue Crew and Gold Crew for the Navy colors, naturally ), which rotate on/off the sub.

Maybe one of you could run with that concept… somehow? I know I have no artistic talent whatsoever.

"Hyperion and the Golden Hedron"

Inspired by the styles of both comics and TAS animation comes this encounter between USS Hyperion and the mysterious "Golden Hedron". Ships given appropriate recoloration, light effects to give some sparkle to the gold, filters applied to achieve an animation/comic feel, including to the star field and comic style text boxes to set the scene.

I always think of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold from DC Comics.

You could use gold and blue flight suits to differentiate the two crews, and combine them by setting the scene during a crew rotation and some of them are standing together. I think it would be something maybe set in the pre-warp or early warp era. Maybe Gold crew is in the hibernation modules on the DY type ship while Blue runs the ship, and then they rotate. That might be an interesting take.

These flight suits would be a good starting point for some pre-Enterprise NX-01 uniforms:



I always thought you could have added red and green and said that was the origin of the departmental colors. Gold, Blue, Red and Green (medical) flight suits of the pre-Starfleet era. But the Gold/Blue crew idea is a good one too.

Had the same idea you did, just took me a few weeks to put it together. Wanted to recreate the Kirk and Spock photo with it, but not enough time in my work schedule.

- I didn't realise how popular Andorians in command gold would be otherwise I would have made the theme that specific. I was so happy to see both yours and @ashefivekay's Andorians, and I've got a similar idea now that I've scrapped my blue & gold map

Thank you! My entry is perhaps an odd choice, because blue isn't actually the prevalent color in that scene, but I was really in the mood to do some Deep Space Nine and Odo/Kira fan art again and I fought I could make it work within the theme. What do you think?
