Picard’s Tea Order Makes No Sense

In your experience, yes. In the southern USA, asking for tea will generally be interpreted as requesting something ice cold and syrupy sweet. You would need to ask for hot tea, to differentiate.

 

I don't have a word count, but it seems we have devoted thousands of words to Picard saying a mere four.

I don't know about you, but I find that funny.

That is true. Me as well as everyone else.

 

You know what people don't realize is that everything that's alive or has been alive is made out of shit. The biosphere is nothing but a giant recycling machine, so what you're "ejecting" will someday be partly part of someone's meal (perhaps even you).

 

I think people realize it. It's just not something a person needs to dwell on. It's one of those thoughts like "how much dinosaur tears does the ocean contain?, are the French the best at Karate?, what is love? and so on

 

More a matter of "Do I care?"

The answer is generally not. I understand the functioning of the world, planting, creating, etc. I live on a farm after all. This is not news.

 

Or is she? There's one episode where she specifically tells the computer not to make the "nutritious" version. So maybe from then all, all her ice cream orders are "real", not the healthy fake version.

I get the basic nature of trying make another person uncomfortable by describing their mother's sexual relations, but if you really want to have that conversation, the thing that is my father probably would not have taken any such trivialities or consent into account. Are we good?

 

No offense was intended, believe me. Given that the language permitted here is patently adult in nature, I did not think that obscure references to how babies are made would be an issue.

My point was to illustrate how a completely insignificant event could have erased a person's existence.
