EURO 2020 Thread!

Yeah, it's not good enough. The top teams will punish us and we'll not be able to coast on negative football and a one goal cushion.

Last night also showed the value of some of the fresh faces. And exposed Kane - how he keeps getting on the team sheet amazes me.

To me, as far as selection goes, England seem to be drifting into that Noughties zone where certain big names were always picked because they sold shirts. And, like that period, the big names are enjoying themselves with their clubs and performing well for them but can't/won't do it for the national team.

Let's see how many rainbow flags people are gonna wave today! :D
Orban said he's not gonna attend XD

Last 16 is set -

Belgium vs Portugal in Seville
Italy vs Austria in London
France vs Switzerland in Bucharest
Croatia vs Spain in Copenhagen
Sweden vs Ukraine in Glasgow
England vs Germany in London
Netherlands vs Czech Republic in Budapest
Wales vs Denmark in Amsterdam

And by a curious quirk of fate, England is the only team that gets to host an R16 match. Will it give them the needed advantage over the Germans?

WELCOME GERMANY! :D

Also if England win, we have a clear route to final while all the big boys knock themselves out in other half of the draw.

It's definitely a favourable draw in terms of being on the "easier" side of the bracket - but Germany will be a test. Every German I know thinks that Low is a terrible coach, but you can never count them out - especially against England.

I wanted Germany because this version is very beatable but it will be a very nervous watch for sure. I think the winner of the match will reach the final.

Remember what Löw did 2014 - against Brazil. Brazil was admittedly bad... So Löw can't be that terrible. Hansi Flick takes over after the EURO.

How about a penalty shoot-out with the goal-keeper the one to miss....(like Villareal vs ManUtd.) :D

What a day. Spain triumph over Croatia by a score of 5-3; they led 3-1 at one point!

Meanwhile, World champions France are disposed of by Switzerland after megastar Kylian Mbappe is the lone failure in the penalty shootout.

France Out...

He was pretty poor the whole tournament.

France were my pick to win the whole thing, but I do love a good upset. They weren't really deserving of it anyway; they were nowhere near as dominant and dynamic as they were in the World Cup.

At this point Italy have to be the favorites.

My beloved Italy. It looks like that they are favourites now that France and Portugal are out.
Azzurris all the way.

Ecstatic for England to get the win. It looked like it was going to be the same old story as Germany had the better chances for 70 mins - then Sterling struck with his 3rd of the tournament. You could be forgiven for expecting England to immediately sit back and defend but bang - Grealish to Kane for the killer second goal.

They fly to Rome for their first non-London game of the tournament against the winner of the ongoing Sweden/Ukraine match.

Interesting how England scored twice after Grealish came on. Maybe Southgate should, I don't know, try starting Grealish?
