How hot was Ardra in "Devil's Due"?

Because people aren't posting root-level threads about how hot-- um, well, erm... oh dear... you know, considering this is the TNG room, all this raises yet another interesting point as there are more hot guys from TOS than in any other edition from the franchise. Of course, wearing light gray sweatpants/shirt ensembles didn't hurt because they blew the budget on the altered, layered shower curtains for the ladies because transparent liners alone don't do much, even if they're covered with orange posies and/or placemats... they were eminently clever with what they had and did back then when it came to costuming, that is a fact... so maybe that's the point of the thread, to celebrate the costumiers. (even for the sweatshirts... since if they ran low on bread, they found the most uncommon thing to pass as alien wardrobes and, IMHO, that's impressive. So was android Norman!)

Well, okay, it took me rambling this long to remember that TNG indeed did have one example: Ishara's brother/hubby/boyfriend/whoever she was with in that one scene on the viewscreen with bits of the Borg set in the background redressed might be a contender but TOS had so many more in its three years compared to the 80s-00s era...

Kang claimed that the Klingons had no devil in Day of The Dove so who exactly was Feklar in Klingon mythology? The guardian at the gates of Sto Vo Kor perhaps who only admits the honoured dead? :klingon:

I suppose in Klingon mythology Fek'lhr serves a completely different role from a deity-level being who controls an entire dimension of reality and imposes punishment and suffering. A guardian of Gre'thor is probably just that and - since as Worf said they slew their own gods in mortal combat in antiquity - thus there would be no Klingon analogue for the human Devil/Lucifer. I know that's a long way to go to keep Kang's dialogue in TOS correct but Fek'lhr wouldn't technically be the ruler of their version of Hell.

Hades was not an "evil" god, though. And he and Persephone ruled over the whole Underworld, which included the Elysian Fields.

Maybe Hel/Hela (the Norse Goddess) would be a better analogue, since she received all those that didn't die in battle? (at least according to some versions)
Though this episode still paints him as an obvious Devil Analogue.

Possibly. Either way, if the Klingons have no devil per se, Ardra might have called herself their closest approximation.

Because the Ventaxians presumably had regular contact with the Klingons, Ardra had produced a holographic version of him beforehand. She probably had to find an image of the human devil and make a version of him on the fly, for her courtroom antics later on.

Marta Dubois was a beautiful woman- one of my adolescent crushes after her appearances as Michelle on Magnum P.I. and Princess Koji in Tales of the Gold Monkey. I knew who she was when Devil's Due first aired, and yes, I thought Ardra was hawt!

and the rush is probably why that devil looked so unconvincing.

not as far as I know. Actually I’m not even sure that a proper script was ever written back in the 70s.

My guess would be an analogue to Ammut in ancient Egyptian mythology. The dead would go before Thoth to have their heart weighed against the feather of truth. If the person led a curious life and the scale balanced, they would be granted entrance to the underworld. If not, Ammut would get a tasty treat of another human soul.

I thought she was "hotter" in her Magnum PI role than as Ardra. I also think that Nicole DeBoer was hotter in "The Dead Zone" than as Ezri Dax. I'm funny that way.

Sorry, to me it still seems that the TNG Klingons have a devil and that Feklar is it.

People interpret the devil differently, based on their faith (or lack thereof) and adherence to pop culture.

Indeed. One has to wonder what devil Kang was familiar with in "Day of the Dove" to make the statement that he did. Are we talking about a tempter or a torturer?

I mean all it is, is the writers of Devil's Due not knowing or caring what some character said in an episode that was 20 years old by that time.

But if we want to pretend that there's an "in-universe" solution, maybe Kang is a member of some Klingon sect that doesn't believe in a Devil, just like there's religions on Earth without a central embodiment of evil.

First, she's not really my type. Second, whatever hotness she might have retained was ruined by her facial makeup plus her turning into a distorted drooling Klingon devil didn't help matters along; All in all she was more of a turn-off than a turn-on.

I don't think Kang believes in anything, he just lives in the instant rejoicing in being a warrior, without any thought to the consequences. That's why when his death is imminent he just takes it in stride.
