^ Robertson's character isn't really spoofing Trump so much as he's spoofing non-British 'tycoon' characters in general.
DWM fired him (it’s been suggested they had already canceled his column and that’s why he left the hidden message), but he’s been back on the show already since then, in “Revolution of the Daleks.” It was reported that he wouldn’t be working on series 11, but that may have been a bit of a dodge as they don’t seem to have used (or at least to have credited) Dalek operators in “Resolution,” so there would have been no need for him.
Uh-huh. He's the CEO of a chain of hotels with aspirations of running for US President and shady history with Russians, but is not a spoof of Trump. Tell me another one.
If Trump didn't exist in the Doctor Who universe, it would be easier to argue that Robertson is specifically spoofing him, but Chibnall specifically referenced Trump as both existing in the Whoniverse and being someone Robertson hates, which makes his character (Robertson), at least IMO, more of a general commentary by Chibnall on the trope and stereotype of the rich, power-hungry business tycoon being the bad guy as previously seen in several previous Doctor Who stories.
That was mostly due to the fact that Moffat had already mad multiple references to Trump in his final year, thereby leaving a situation where Chibnall either had to insert some sort of reference to him, or just mysteriously have a near identical character. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if the character was originally developed as a definite Trump parody, with the line about him hating Trump only inserted once Chibnall became aware Moffat was dropping so many Trump references into the show.
Looks like John Bishop might already be wrapped. While shooting will be going on until July, he's just started a comedian-in-residence gig on a cruise ship. (And not that it's something you could even pay me to watch but I understand he was a judge on "The Masked Dancer" last week as well.)
It's insane people think cruise ships are safe after everything that has happened, vaccine or not. I cannot believe people already heading back to them.
Whether he's a Trump analogue or not, His consequence-free comedy villain antics in Revolution were annoying as fuck and took him about 20 episodes past his use-by date. (Yes, I know he's only been in two. Point still stands; it's qualatative.)
At the end of Revolution when he's making his televised statement, I expected it to be revealed that it's a holographic background and he's now actually in the prison the Doctor had broken out of.
Why would vaccinated people have any additional fear of cruise ships compared to any other "get close together" scenario?
Because cruise ships are well-known disgusting petri dishes and human disasters long before COVID. And this pandemic isn't even over yet!
We'd go on an all-vaccinated cruise in a minute. Even before Covid, ships from a reputable line (we sail Holland America) were exceedingly clean. People were cleaning and wiping constantly. Those ships were far cleaner than any hotel I've ever stayed in. I would imagine these policies will only be exceeded now.
The overwhelming majority of people who go on cruises have a great time. My suggestion to you? Don't go on a cruise. Don't worry about people who want to.
