News Clone Wars spin-off-- The Bad Batch

Big Oof in the first episode

Hunter references something Taun We said earlier in the episode. But uh he wasn’t in that scene, none of the bad batch were. Omega was, but she never told him what Taun We said
Nala Se perhaps you mean? What if this oof? I didn't see it/pay attention to it. I enjoyed the first episode.

Whoops yeah I mean Nala Se.

The Kaminoans show up so sparingly, I can’t remember their names.

He references the conversation with Tarkin where she mentions how many enhanced clones are left. The only clone in that scene was Omega, and she never told him, unless it was offscreen

I loved the premier, can’t wait to see more

I wonder if we’ll see a canon version of the Clone Rebellion. Just based on what happened near the end of the episode.

That's not a goof. Tarkin tells the Batch at one point that Nala Se speaks quite highly of her five enhanced clones. And it was Tech that references it later, not Hunter. ;)

Great first episode. I wasn't excited for the series and Clone trooper characters aren't among my favorites either but where they started this episode was so great and I think episode 1 is a very strong opener to this series. The beginning of the transition from the end of the prequel era to the original era is a very interesting one to explore.

Hot damn that was awesome! Just pure epic and awesome.

I see we get a different depiction of Caleb Dume watching Depa Bilaba's last stand and his subsequent escape then what was in the Kanan comic from years back. So much for "everything's canon." Whatever, I like this version better anyway.

They did keep some of the details though, the planet they’re on, and the colour and name of the clone commander. Though his name is only in the credits, not said on screen.

Yeah rewatching now, I caught that whoops.

Just finished. I didn't particularly love The Bad Batch episodes in TCW but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this! I have not been following this that closely so I didn't know some of the things that were spoiled including:

Freddie Prinze's return as Caleb/Kanaan and Crosshair staying with the Empire. The prior was a nice bit of texture, the later unsurprising based on events earlier in the episode but nice to see a foe that knows the heroes so intimately. It seems to me that Omega's secret might be that she's a clone or perhaps even more that she's somehow an offshoot of Squad 99 themselves.

Additionally, I love it how the cast list simply has "Dee Bradley Baker as The Bad Batch." A tour de force by Bradley for sure.

I mean, they essentially say that in the episode, plus other clues.

To be fair, I have been working while watching this this morning so I might have missed some of the expository bits, but I didn't feel it was explicit based on what I recall. I felt it was strongly hinted.

One of those "certain point of view" moments no doubt.......

Ooh, this was good. I enjoyed this a lot more than I did the first episode of Rebels. And I ended up loving Rebels. Such a strong start. I really liked seeing the transition between Republic and Empire and directly going at some of the questions that we've all had about what this period might entail.

They totally Winter Soldier-ed Crosshair! Those Imperial bastards! Tarkin remains so much fun to hate, even after all these years. And the tragedy of watching Crosshair succumb to the inhibitor programming was really effective. I do find it interesting that the chips seem to have made the clones much less independent after Order 66 and much more susceptible to the Imperial changeover. That explains why so many go along without a fuss.

I love Echo. I really don't have anything else to add, there. Just so good to get more story from this character. I know it's a long shot, but I really want him to find out what happened to Fives and get some reaction there. Maybe if/when 99 find Rex.

Some fantastic tie ins in this episode. Caleb Dume onscreen was wonderful, as was finally witnessing the key moment in the origin of Kanan. And Saw is basically the first rebel. From one war to another. We knew this about him, of course. But his anger at the birth of the Empire is so raw here. Really well played by the voice actor. Was this the same actor that did Saw in The Clone Wars?

So, Omega is the final member of Clone Force 99. From Tech's dialogue, it sounds like she is, in fact, a Jango Fett clone. though that is far from confirmed, I suppose. I wonder if she was intentionally modified or if she is also a "defective" mutation. From the ending of the episode I got a Taskmaster vibe, as in she can mimic what she sees. It might not be a literal superpower, but they specifically made a point of Tech saying that she may be hyper-perceptive. So she shoots like Crosshair and it sure looks like she was picking up how to pilot the ship from watching Tech. Maybe it's less copying others and just a really fast form of learning. Either way, she clearly has a secret, as Nala Se helped her in particular escape. Very interested to see where that goes.

Also, and just for a pure starship nerd out moment, I literally whooped at V-Wings. I want to see them shoot something, darn it! I love those designs. I wonder how long before we see our first TIE fighter?
