Babylon 5

What struck me in this round of rewatching, was what was average random pilot Keffer doing having drinks or meals with the command staff? Just 'cause he's in the opening titles?
Damn, yeah, that's going to bug me the next time I watch the series. It's been years and years since I've watched the whole thing beyond a few episodes here and there. It certainly hasn't happened since I served in the Navy and a lot things will look differently through that lens, just like Star Trek does now.

Especially since he only appeared in, what, 6 episodes out of the whole season? And some of them were just a single quick scene, like finfing the teddy bear in space at the very end.

If anything, and as shown, Corwin would seem more likely to directly interact with Our Heroes. I'm not really sure what more they could have done with him than what was shown, but I admit part of me wishes he had gotten more to do.

Yeah...I wonder whether he might have had a bigger role to play if they'd started building his character in S1. As it is, in most episodes he's kind of B5's answer to Uhura.

Corwyn was a widget character without much of a personality. The one time he says his opinion is when he fails his test to be brought in on the conspiracy. He's the equivalent of people like Stargate's Walter, we need somebody in this place to execute the orders of more important characters so might as well give him a name.

He seems like he could have easily been worked into the main story, if he had any charisma at all as an actor.

Or what's his name from Battlestar Galactica, the bridge lieutenant who was given command of the fleet at the end because everyone else was going on their rescue mission?

JMS posted recently about how the cast began lobbying to give him a name in season two, since Joshua Cox had been filling the role of Tech #1/#2 fairly regularly, and apparently the main cast liked him well enough they thought he should have the extra prestige and job security of having lines written specifically for him and not whatever random console-filler happened to come in that day.

Poor Accented Woman from season one never made it that far, though. Maybe she asked for reassignment from B5 because of issues with PTSD after she was taken hostage by a dust dealer in customs when she first arrived on the station.

When they gave O'Brien a name, I heard Colm Meaney saw the script and said "Who's this O'Brien guy, I thought I worked the transporters!"

Zach kinda proves that minor characters can become main characters just by having charisma.

I always thought Corwin got the short end of the stick, even more so than Zach. I, too, wanted to see more of his character.

Corwin was supposed to be the XO under Lochley, wasn't he?

He did that to pass the time while he's not being almost shoved out an airlock by Jonathan Archer.

It seems implied but never explicit that Corwin was Lochley's XO.

Beyond giving him a name and basically regular status and the one story that focused on whether to bring him into the loop, I think he essentially remained a cypher?

...oh...and the thing with the bat.

Was there ever a reason only four members of the cast got the Army of Light uniforms and everyone else got...JC Penney dress shirts with a 5 embroidered on them?

I thought the dress shirt was just what they always wore under their uniform jacket?

I thought it was command staff vs. everyone else. Zack got one after Garibaldi resigned.
