I wasn't that worried about the Fifield and whatshisname situation. Bit odd, but oh well. But yes, I do agree that we went from Prometheus's 'Decan' at the end, to the full blown Xenomorph a bit too fast. Also still not sure about David's involvement in it all. I would have loved to see something where David is at first seen by the Engineers as both a threat (humans developed something that was as close to creating a new form of life as a 'god' could) but also intrigued as to how humanity's own creation would want to be a part of it's destruction. Perhaps for no better reason than to proof that him being capable of destroying them was equel to them creating him? An omega to their alfa? A yang to their ying? A desire to proof that he was capable of immense acts, like his creator?

I'm one of those weird people that actually liked 'Prometheus' quite a bit, and that affinity has only increased with every viewing. Initially my main complaint was the idiocy of the supposed expert team of scientists doing things like taking helmets off around and/or touching unknown alien organisms. When that actually clicked with me was when I realised that they were supposed to be idiots, because this wasn't a mission about serious scientific exploration, it was a mission for an ancient, dying quintillionare to live out his delusional fantasy. The crew he assembled weren't the best of the best, they were barely competent fringe eccentrics; i.e. the kind that won't be missed. Their function on the planet was to serve as canaries. To determine if what Wayland was looking for is actually there and thus worth waking him. That's all.

As for 'Covenant'...I've not gotten around to rewatching it since it came out, but my overall impression was that of general disappointment. Not a bad movie, but a let down in terms of a continuation of 'Prometheus', and largely forgettable. I liked Shaw as a character, I liked Noomi Rapace in the role and I was fascinated to see where the story takes her next. Needless to say "vivisected off-screen between movies" wasn't what I had in mind. Also David was far more interesting when you really didn't know what his thoughts, motivations and goals really were. Just making him a straight up arch villain in what was ultimately a survival horror slasher movie seemed like a backward step.

Just to clarify, we're never going to get a sequel to Predators (2010), right? That film had an amazing setup and options for so many stories. Whereas typically in a horror/dwindling-party film, the plot requires it to be essentially a one-off event.

In my head, I still fuse all the Alien, AvP and Predator films into one continuity. Just crossover comics with other properties like Superman, Terminator and Batman don't fit in, I guess.

I am not a fan of the Alien movies, especially Prometheus and Covenant I found terrible.

I would like a Predators sequel. I am curious to see more of the Predators, like their home world etc.

Can you imagine what would even happen if The Thing came in contact with the Engineers' black goop? It'd be the biomechanical equivalent of audio feedback. The DNA would just fractally implode into itself like that floating butthole thing at the end of 'Annihilation'.

I would have liked to see Shaw's story go in a different direction. Seeing... that... I found really disturbing.

At least for me, the Batman/Aliens stories work as prequels to AVP -- first, Batman fights Aliens among Mayan ruins, and in the second there's something buried in the Antarctic ice.

A new Predator film that takes place 300 years ago in the Comanche Nation is coming to Hulu in 2022...

Yeah, this definitely have my attention, I really enjoyed 10 Cloverfield Lane, and going back 300 years to do Native Americans vs Predator is a nice twist on the series usual formula.

There’s all kinds of different eras you can set a Predator movie in. I’m surprised it took this long to do one set in the past.

Studios are going back and forth on what to do because of COVID. Here in the Netherlands, infection numbers have gone up like billionaire-created spaceships. We started a three week lockdown yesterday, with limitations set for gastronomy, theaters and cinema's. And a lot of people are still worried about going out.
Renting movies at home, paying a little extra to stream them, is something people are having less and less issues with. So yeah, I can see them taking a property that has hardly earned any many in the last decade but still has a dedicated fan base to a streaming service in stead of cinema's.

I've got two 6-month-olds so going to the theater isn't a viable option anymore after carrying AMC A-List for a year before the pandemic. We were going to at least once a week every week. I've really missed seeing some things in the theater, but this is the new normal for a while. Spider-Man might draw me out of the house, but I know that a Predator movie never would.

I love the Predator movies. Even the horrible ones as stupid popcorn flicks. But I would never go see one in cinema's, even before the pandemic. Unless the first one is ever re-released. I wouldn't mind seeing that on the big screen.

Seems rather easy prey for the Yuatja. Hopefully they limit their weaponry to make it more of a fair game.
