That's what I reckon too. I wonder if they would de-age him to look like "Encounter at Farpoint" Q, or to his last appearance in "Q2"? de Lancie had visibly aged between those two episodes anyway (as people do).
Maybe sticking to a mid-TNG era appearance would be the best option.
Chabon is still an EP and writer on the season (I believe he wrote the first two episodes), so I doubt that.
I think more wishful thinking is accurate.
LOL! I always thought they were threatening to tickle each-other into cosmic annihilation.
They (supposed all powerful beings) looked so silly just standing there claws out, with nothing going on between them!
I'm surprised in the 30 years since, nobody has digitally revisited the scene to at least add some cracking force lightning, or crazy chi energy building up in their palms, or something! .

It was more of thinking aloud,....what if someone asks Picard to come in for a check up on his artificial heart a couple years down? I'm not sure Picard would let Starfleet know what happened...
And I was definitely not trying to sneer and/or be rude. Of course, the new body would come with an "organic" heart.
Or Soong's kid decided it'd be better to put the artificial heart in so not to arouse Starfleet Medical's suspicions for when Picard comes in at his local VA clinic.
