Hey folks, just joined and thought i'd come in and say hello. Gee, it's hot out there, yea i live in Perth, Australia, 38 and seen all TNG many times, DS9 a couple, Voyager a few and i'm into season 2 of Enterprise for the 3rd or 4th time now. TNG is my favourite by far. My gripe with the others i will talk about in time. With Enterprise however, the one character that just doesn't fit in and annoys me is Ltnt Reed. He's just to whimpering to be a valid and believable tactical/security officer on the flagship of the fleet. What do you guys think.

Hey GrowlingDog - welcome to the board! Glad to hear you're an ENT fan.

Part of the problem with Reed, as I saw it, was 1. Archer never paid any attention to his concerns and 2. Archer led every dangerous mission. He wasn't given a chance to show what he could do. It didn't help that the one time he got to show his stuff (Minefield), who has to come out and save his butt? Archer

The writers never gave the character much of a chance.

I dont think it was the charecter but the actor just should not have been cast in that role. His mannerisms and his body language just weren't that of someone working in the field of security. When he tried to act tough, he just came across all wrong. I certainly wouldn't hire him to do security for me.

Oh, I see. Yeah, I wondered what was up with the smallest guy being Security Chief. I didn't like the thing he did with his mouth every time Reed heard something he didn't like. I don't know how to describe it.

They made Reed out to be a completely immature jackass in Harbinger. I don't know what the writers were thinking.

Yea, at least Major Hayes had the mannerisms of someone in security.I mean If we ever do have something resembling a Federation that represents all of Earth, i would think the guy in charge of security on our first Star Ship would be one tough Mother#%^#* and when he told you to jump, you would SH%t your pants then say how high.

    Hey!
New to the forum. I am a serious trekker from the time of TOS (I was just a little kid but I watched the first TOS episode the night it first aired----- I think it came on after Bewitched. Anyway, my dad was/is really into Sci Fi.)

I didn't watch Enterprise when it first aired, but I've watched it on Sci Fi and absolutely fell in love.

I know I'm a big big Scott Bakula fan. So..... I love Captain Archer. ****cringes***** I've been reading through a few threads and some people think he is a little too whiny (?). I personally think he starts out immature and prejudiced and learns along the way. I think he lost the boyishness of the first two seasons in season three and four, and that made me a little sad. I'm a sucker for an overgrown boyscout.
Aside from all that he is smoking HOT.

I don't think there is anyone of the cast that I don't like. The treatment of the Vulcans in season one (and a bit onward) kind of gets on my nerves at times.

I totally love Shran. He is too cool. And Soval is pretty sexy too.

Anyway, I'm excited to be here.

Nothing wrong with liking Archer-- I dig Bakula and the character he played. :)

Agreed on both counts! Welcome to the forum!

Hey Bak & Blue... welcome to the board!!!

I LOVE Bakula too, but thought he was better suited to other roles (Quantum Leap, Murphy Brown). Archer was inconsistent and the writing for him was all over the map, imo.

How can you NOT love Shran, huh? I totally love him too.

I started watching ENT for Bakula and stayed for Trinneer. :D Lots of gorgeous men on that show!

I have to agree with Triptacular. We're really spoilt for choice with the men on the show!

A friend told me about this forum... and thought I would drop in and check it out.
It's wonderful to see so much enthusiasm about Star Trek: ENTERPRISE.
Having the opportunity to work as an actor on any Star Trek is a dream come true...
and I had the pleasure of creating characters on both DS9 (Tilikia ~ "Sons of Mogh")
and ENTERPRISE (B'rat Ud ~ "Rajiin").

It is an amazing feeling being part of Star Trek history!
Thank you for allowing me the chance to say hello and introduce myself. ~ Dell Yount :)

    WELCOME! :)

B'rat was a cool character -- I loved the way he interacted with the crew.

^I'm going to watch Raijin tonight and I'll be looking for you, Dell! That's awesome that you're here.

Edit: hey! just watched it, you were great Dell. You have an awesome voice. Sounds like you were classically trained. How about some Shakespeare, perhaps Richard III?:)

Thank you for the good review and kind words about my voice... :)
Here is the link to my YouTube page ( www.youtube.com/DellYount ),
if you want to view more of my work as an actor.

Cop-Rock was my first TV acting role and it was my voice training that got me the job.
It is a rare opportunity that an actor get's to sing in the movies or on television,
and I was very excited to have been cast in that show... first time is always the best.

    Unless, of course... ;)
B'Rat Ud was my last character - I loved him and hoped he might even recur someday.
But alas... the UNIVERSE is a great big place and the crew was only passing through.
Having the opportunity to create the role of B'Rat was an amazing experience...
working with that wonderful cast and top notch crew was an absolute joy!
And I can tell you, if I never get cast to play another role in a film of on television...
I will be happy to have had the character of B'Rat Ud be my 'last job in Hollywood.'

I took time out and spent the last few years teaching at my undergraduate alma mater.
Giving back to my artistic community is very important to me and I feel it my duty
to show the maps that I have made along my artistic journey to the young actors
who are just now beginning their training... hopes and dreams, hope and dreams!

Teaching young actors... watching students grow as artists...
develop as human beings... seeing the proverbial 'Light Bulbs' come on...
this is another joyous experience in my life. I completed my teaching assignment,
and now it's time to get back to work as an actor in front of the camera.

So it's back to the beginning... looking for an agent... and hoping that somewhere...
somewhere, out there in the dark, a screenwriter is writing the perfect role for me.
It'll have to be good though, as it would be no fun at all playing some ordinary
"would you like fries with that" kind of character... ;),
especially after playing a role like B'Rat Ud on Star Trek: ENTERPRISE.

The Writers' Strike is over... let's all get back to work!
    Dell Yount.

Welcome, Dell. :) Count me as another who loved B'rat Ud in Rajiin. You did so much with the character in so short a time. One of the more memorable turns on the show. Great work!

Welcome to the board Dell! :)

I loved your character. The laugh was terrific! I thought it was great to have them trading spices - very "old world".

Hope you find more acting work soon.

    Hello,
just joined the board yesterday and thought it would be appropriate to post here. I'm a fan of all Trek - and, although often heavily bashed, I think the best parts of Enterprise were very easily among the best parts of Trek at all. In fact, season 4 is one of my alltime favourite trek-seasons.

Dell, I understand that you need 100 posts to get an avatar. Perhaps they might make an exception for you?;)
