Spoilers "Superman & Lois" Season 1 spoiler discussion!

Has he said anything about wanting to destroy Superman yet?

Not yet. Look, dude who wants X-Kryptonite to create an army of super-soldiers or henchmen has a limited number of dramatic options in a comic book show. They're pretty much limited to:

  1. Destroy Superman;
  2. Rule The World;
  3. ???
  4. Profit!

Be interesting how they handle Lex in this since in the post Crisis timeline he’s considered a goodie and hence has never fought Superman.

The pro baseball team that Morgan Edge owns has never been the same since 10 of his players were suspended for steroid use. Since drug tests won't catch X-Kryptonite, his team is going to dominate the league for the next 20 years. And it doesn't matter how many people he has to kill to achieve his master plan.

Not fought him openly, at least. Superheroes have contended with lots of villains who were publicly perceived as legitimate, like Malcolm Merlyn, Clifford DeVoe, Morgan Edge, or Tobias Whale in the current Black Lightning status quo.

I get the felling that he was a good guy before the old Lex replaced him

No, I'm fairly certain it was the same Lex; he just rewrote history so that his crimes had never been discovered. After all, Earth-Prime Lillian Luthor was still the same in personality and wasn't at all shocked by Lex's darker side when he told her about the universal reboot.

Besides, all the other Paragons and core characters were basically the same in personality in Earth-Prime, just with some differences in life experience and context.

Frankly, the way the kids are portrayed is refreshing for this kind of show. Usually the authority figures go full ABC Afternoon Special on their asses.

I think Edge might want to sale the Kryptonite to government in order to create a situation where Superman becomes a enemy of the people and he can use that to gain political power. Which sounds like Lex Luthor plot but maybe they wanted to shake things up by using a different rich greedy person instead. One who is actually indifferent to Superman and just sees him as a obstacle. Also I got a feeling this show is eventually going to expose Clark as Superman and just go with it. It would be a new take having Superman no longer living in secret. Jason

Pasdar was made to cartoonists sexist. I think their is still a twist with the character that isn't fully revealed. Like maybe he is also from another universe and displaced the Pasdar version because of Crisis but only he is fully aware of this. Rest of the world doesn't even know the Pasdar version use to exist. Or better yet he is yet another Lex Luthor and now 3 exist in the Arrowverse. Jason

The way Smallville was written on the side of the town hall, was in the style of the logo for the Smallville TV series, I think.

They're building this show and its characters from the ground up for new viewers. Carry-over audience from the other CW superhero shows can relate it to what they've seen on those shows, but if a viewer has never watched those, all the important pieces are being laid as new groundwork.

Clark's relationship with the world is a little darker here - the military has never trusted him, similarly to the New 52 universe and Snyder's movies. A little different from his cousin's life and world.

Luthor is a new character - if you saw Jon Cryer, great - but if you didn't, the writers will explain to you exactly who this Captain Luthor is, why he hates Clark, and why he's a threat. The previous existence of Lex Luthor is just an Easter egg.

They fully justify the existence of the first "villain from the past" they introduce without any important reference to the Berlantiverse - he's just a guy who's been "radicalized" by his hatred for Clark, which is a quasi-political angle that's somewhat dark itself.

And finally, it looks like other major antagonists this year will be created on the basis of a gimmick that they're introducing right here and right now: X-Kryptonite (the previous existence of which in other media is nothing more than an Easter egg itself).

Or he already knows Clark's alter ego, which would be a better explanation for why Edge would keep him occupied, because if he (Edge) did not know Clark was Superman, he would assume he's still in the Metropolis area--not anywhere close to Smallville where the threat would always be watching over his shoulder.
Even if he doesn't know Clark is Superman, Superman has already interfered once when his powered goon attacked Lois, so he knows Superman is involved. He might just be trying to prevent him from interfering again.

That's why I referred to the possibility of this series going in the direction of Justice League Unlimited's Ultimen plot, using the Department of Defense's meta program as his stated contingency plan to not only be his personal super-force, but to nullify Superman.
I could see them going that way.

Eh, that would not make much sense; as it stands, Alt-Luthor wants to kill a Superman of another dimension--Alt-Luthor knows he is not the one who terrorized his home world, yet he's obsessed with killing Superman in any case. If that's the motive the showrunners have given Alt-Luthor, then they should stick with that, instead of having him toss his own beliefs out of the window for a "enemy-becomes-my-ally" plot.
He wants to stop Superman from destroying this Earth the his was destroyed. If he saw a worse threat, I could see him being convinced to help out. I've been wondering if he's a good guy, and they'll eventually convince him that this Superman isn't a threat just because his was.

Considering the research and element he's using, why would that not be a recipe for killing Superman?
It's not regular krytonite, and so far all we've seen it do is give people powers. So he could just be using to build an army of metas for some purpose besides killing Superman.

I doubt they'll deal with him at all, they seem to be leaving Lex Prime to Supergirl, and are using Captain Luthor as their Luthor, and Morgan Edge as their corrupt business man.

Yeah but Supergirl is ending and I doubt they will just drop him

This Morgan Edge is really bland. They should've kept Adrian Pasdar.

I would've preferred that, but I would assume it's a matter of availability, which is probably why Pasdar's Edge disappeared from Supergirl mid-season with his arc unresolved, because Agents of SHIELD had that big climactic story arc for him as Glenn Talbot in the same season.

Possibly, it probably depends on what they do with Capt. Luthor.
Which reminds me of something I've been wondering about. Do we know yet if he is actually his universe's Lex and not another Luthor? The fact that they keep just referring to him as Capt. Luthor makes me wonder if he might be a different member of the Luthor family. It feels like they're setting up some kind of big surprise reveal there.

I wonder if this X-Kryptonite "resurrection" business has anything to do with Alt-Superman becoming evil (or mind controlled) on Alt-Luthor's Earth. Perhaps Morgan Edge was really behind the death of Alt-Luthor's Earth. It could lead to a plotline in which Alt-Luthor works with Jordan and Jonathan to take down their father.

Is Supergirl ending? I kinda lost interest until lately my daughter has been binging it. Now I can't really get into The Flash. I think my favorite post Arrow until now has been Legends.

Hoechlin is growing on me as Superman / Clark. I'm into seeing where this series goes. After the most recent episode, I'm thinking it would be cool to get a Frank and Joe Hardy vibe from the brothers.

There were rumors of Brandon Routh getting a Superman series on HBO Max or somewhere after how well his Crisis performance was received. I'd love to see that happen. He nailed that performance and in Superman Returns. Too bad Superman Returns wasn't better written.

Routh would be cool for a Superman Beyond type of show. Personally I would have it set a few hundred years in the future. A time they have never done before
