How long for Novels based on Lower Decks

Perhaps, but you'd also want to try to capture the zaniness and screwball-comedy aspects or what's the point?

A LOWER DECKS novel should not read like a mainstream TREK novel. It should read like a LOWER DECKS novel.

I think the two aren't that far apart and not because I write zany off the wall screwball comedy novels w/ dramatic elements. Well, not just.

:shifty:

I was actually inspired to write genre comedy (and write in general) because of New Frontier.

NF combined camp and serious(ish) dark storytelling in equal measure. I could easily see the novelized version working just as well.

I want to see a Captain's Table for Enterprise, Lower Decks, and Picard (even though Picard is not really a Starfleet show) and maybe one for Discovery/SNW/The Cage.

Rios is the captain of La Sirena, and it’s not like Picard himself is short of additional tales. I feel like the Captain’s Table would accept anyone who’s promoted out of the seat proper.

So, let’s see, Georgiou, Lorca, Pike, Saru, Michael, Picard, Rios, Freeman... Definitely enough there for another anthology, just sayin’...

Ya. Although, I think Enterprise is long overdue, that should be first priority. (What can I say? I'm a sucker for Enterprise) Maybe include when Malcolm (if i remember correctly?) and trip get promoted to captain in the alternate timeline, when the xindi destroy earth (ENT:Twilight)

If your reffering to Picard, I meant Chris Rios, when he was a starfleet officer. They might also write about when he was a starfleet officer.
Sorry, I assumed Picard.
I'm not sure being in Starfleet is a requirement to enter the Captain's Table. IIRC, captains from all sorts of vessels and organizations were there.

Wasn't there an Enterprise Captains Table short story?
Yes, "Tales from The Captain's Table":

Plus, no Captain Rachel Garrett of the Enterprise C
Captain Garrett did have a story in the Enterprise Logs anthology and her own novel with The Lost Era novel Well of Souls.

But if it's specifically a Captain's Table novel you're referring to, I wouldn't hold my breath on any of those ever. It's been twenty years, it would be incredibly random for a series from twenty years ago to start getting new novels added to it now. Especially since, IIRC the Captain's Table anthology mentioned above didn't do too well in sales.

I still like the idea of a Lower Decks double book. Read it from one cover, a Trek adventure from the perspective of the Cerritos bridge crew. Read from the other, the hijinks and shenanigans of the story behind the story from the perspective of the ensigns.

You must ask yourself, since Lower decks is more of a comedy like Futurama, would someone really want to sit and read a book about their adventures? Lower Decks is basically a canon parody.

Tales from the Captain's Table did decently, but not enough to warrant another, especially since Gallery Books doesn't seem to be interested in doing anthologies these days.....
