Paramount/JJ trying another Trek movie (that will probably never get made).

Here we go again:lol:

Good luck Kalinda Vasquez. I hope you succeed where Payne/McKay, Mark Smith (and that had Quintin Tarantino on board as a producer!) and Noah Hawley failed.

Don't be mad, but I'm not getting my hopes up until I see set photos.

Writing a script is one thing (yes, they said okay for her to write and submit it).

Getting the Paramount Execs to GREENLIGHT said script forn production<--- That's another beast entirely.

So this person was named after a Star Trek character, and she's writing a Star Trek movie about the character she was named after?

The way they worded it in the article is kind of strange.

Taking my cynic's hat off for a second, I suppose the fact that they've moved away from trying to get a "big name" involved is an encouraging sign.

The article felt very fluffy and I rolled my eyes through most of it. But, I'll take the sign that there is actual interest in another Star Trek film and they are willing to bring in Abrams again. Color me optimistic, even if it is a fool's hope. I won't say no to more Abrams.

And let the haters start rolling.

Star Trek 4 Take 3.

I actually think this one has a shot of being made. Whatever salary issues might have gone wrong with Take 1, they must think they can work with now or work around. And it probably won't be dealing with a Pandemic like Take 2. So, yeah.

But that having been said...

... you're not wrong.

I hope it happens. FWIW I thought the mini-arc of Terra Firma was one of the best parts of Season 3. It was nice having a contained 2 parter, like Ent season 4 had.

We'll see another Star Trek film once Paramount removes their collective heads from out of their collective asses.

Makes me wonder if 1 day we'll get to see all the scripts there writing these last few years..

Cautiously optimistic

I don't care if they do that or not. It's not like I want them to watch the movie; just pay for it.

Being reviewed by top men.

With Paramount+ having to compete in the streaming wars, it's not unrealistic to think they could make an exclusive Star Trek film for it.

These streaming services are desperate to get a leg up on the competition. The direct-to-streaming move by AT&T/WB represents a paradigm shift. Paramount could do it too.

Frankly, I would love to have a lower budget Trek Film for streaming. I just want someone else working on it not under the Bad Robot/Kurtzman umbrella. Even if you like JJ/AK, aren't you ready for something different? I'm tired of their overproduced fast paced action stuff we've gotten over the last decade.

The writer also wrote the Short Trek episode "Ask Not". As a writer she is no Quentin Tarantino (or Noah Hawley). But Tarantino wasn't writing the Tarantino Trek script either. She was named after a TOS character so must be a big fan. Hopefully it will turn out good. Yes, this one could end up directly on Paramount+
