How do the warp factor indicators work? I think the NCC-1701 can only go to Warp 9.
Who says they're unmarked? No kidding. Helm is 6x6 buttons (36), but the bottom 6 are overlay buttons, which change the purpose of the above 30 buttons. So it's 30 buttons, but with each button having 6 different functions depending on which overlay button is active. That's 180 UNMARKED buttons to remember......
Yet every Tom, Dick and Space Hippy have managed.Unmarked buttons make it harder for an enemy to control the helm.

Isn't it obvious? He's battening down the hatches.I'm pretty sure all the actions on the ship were scripted and coordinated to approximate actual functions...

"PHASOR"Michael McMaster made a set of TOS bridge blueprints that mapped out the function of every button on the bridge. To say it isn't a very user friendly interface is an understatement

It was all over The Making of Star Trek in 1968, and in the tie-in books. Its spelling was well established. Plus, LASER, PHASER.In TOS they didn't give an official spelling. To my knowledge it hasn't been shown in writing until maybe the TNG era.
And, WTF is up with that GIF's color? Look at the sign seen left of the guy's head. It's purple, then it's blue, then it's purple again (the sign is actually blue).
It's a flat out mistake, like the people here who decades on still type Geordie and Scottie and Checkov.Yes, but those arent/werent canon. I see your point. Might have been a copyright/trademark issue, or just a flat-out mistake.

The problem I always had with the overlays is, what if you need to fire the phasers while you're doing evasive maneuvers?
It was capable of going to Warp 14... with some help. How do the warp factor indicators work? I think the NCC-1701 can only go to Warp 9.
Macros, child, macros. But having to program the custom key in the midst of battle would be a pain wouldn't it? The majority of the time you would not be in a battle and having to use that.
Hmmmm, not sure if that's right. Seems like there was a sign for the phasers on the wall in Balance of Terror . . . ? Or maybe another S1 visual reference.
The best console action was Gary Mitchell's relaxed swipe or whatever he did with almost the back of his hand XD
