Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

It's something that will probably be part of a credits sequence.
That was my first thought too, but if so the order of characters/actors is very odd. I can't imagine Ray Fisher being credited first. Or Gadot last, unless she gets the coveted "And" spot. (Which would put Henry Cavill in the "With" spot, which makes a certain amount of sense.

After spending four hours of screen time we're going to be left hanging with a resolution that will never be resolved.
Well ain't that a kick in the crotch? Hopefully it's not a cliffhanger in the sense that the point of the entire plot is unresolved, and more of a case of "Last minute reveal stinger" thing.

I am not going to watch this now. Really---I knew originally it was going to be part one of two, but with the four hour length I thought that both parts were going to be included.

I’ll watch it when it’s free on whatever service I already subscribe to but I won’t be paying for it

Something similar happens in the Injustice Comics though not identical. I think a cult leader would be incredibly interesting to explore. Probably one of the more interesting possible takes on the Joker in the character's history.

Heck, if they'd really committed to the older Batman aesthetic then they could just combine Joker as a cult leader with the Mutant Gang from "Dark Knight Returns". Joker's locked up and Batman is dealing with the Mutants, then he finds out the leader is really Joker's Penpal and he was running the show.

For Snyder haters, it's another thing that allows them to display their pouty, obsessive hatred for a total stranger who made a superhero movie they didn't like.

1) I can't say I have much of a reaction to the video. It's fine. Slightly pretentious but not obnoxiously so. Mostly my reaction was that statues of superheroes has been done before.

2) It's really important to separate dislike of an artist's work from dislike of the artist. By every account I've heard, Zack Snyder is a decent guy who inspires loyalty and affection in his casts and crews. But I detest his films and find that they are full of toxic and nihilistic messages. By contrast, while I will always love most of his body of work (which are full of thematic depth, characters I care about, and whose messages are mostly not toxic and nihilistic), I have grown to hate Joss Whedon over this past year as it has become clear he is an emotionally abusive misogynist.

My love for Whedon's work does not extend to Whedon; my hatred for Snyder's work does not extend to Snyder.

I would be surprised if Warner didn't try to stack the deck on the investigation as Fisher alleges, but I would also be surprised if Ta-Nehisi Coates signed up for a project whose purpose was to whitewash Fisher's allegations of racism. Coates has too much integrity for that, and it's not like he needs the money.

By Whedon for one, ironically. ;)

Well, yeah, but it was also already done by Snyder in Batman v. Superman. And Chris Nolan beat both of them to it in The Dark Knight Rises. It's not a huge deal, but it's slightly derivative at this point. But it's not something that would kill a movie it's used in, either.

Pouty, obsessive and insecure, as they behave as if the versions they worship are in some sort of danger by the mere existence and support of Snyder's DCEU.

Be ready for a decade of Snyder stans using the cliffhanger as another excuse to rant about "Restoring the Snyderverse", even though both WB and Snyder have been pretty clear that he's moving on after this.

They are never getting the Snyder run DC Universe again, thankfully, but the really obnoxious people do not need more excuses to be assholes online.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but if I like it I wouldn't mind them making this one canonical, and making a sequel to it. Won't happen, but I wouldn't mind it. Again, only if I like it.

People want Firefly to come back too.

Ok...so JL 2 was supposed to be about this apocalyptic future? So, kinda B v. S round 2?

Was the Luthor & Deathstroke scene a pure Joss Whedon thing?

I definitely look forward to seeing

1) i too am neutral on it....doesn't sway me either way.

2) i appreciate and respect these comments

3) Fisher just seems COMPLEETELY disconnected with fandom (and not knowing the importance of Coates). I just saw an article where Gal Gadot praised Snyder for casting her in the DCFU. I wonder if part of the resentment has to do with Fisher not getting his own movie or opening professional doors for him, the way B v S has done for Gadot?

I will be very interested in reading the comparisons between Theatrical vs. HBO Max versions (almost scene by scene-ish)....

Thanks.

I don't think Fisher is acting in bad faith. He was clearly the target of Whedon's verbal abuse during the JL reshoots, and he's right to note that studios often punish minorities for standing up for their rights. I think he's legitimately angry at the way he was treated, and that anger is causing him to jump to unfair conclusions about other people's projects -- but that doesn't mean the primary causes of his anger aren't legit.

I strongly suspect that comparing the Whedon version to the Snyder version will be a masterclass in how have same underlying production elements can be drastically changed by editing, and in how two different versions of the same story can both be bad in special, unique ways.

Regardless of how justified he might feel, Fisher is behaving as toxically as the members of the LGBT community who went after Ruby Rose because she didn't 'present' as being "gay enough" to play Kate Kane, which makes him less a victim than he might otherwise be perceived as being.

I'm not familiar enough with the Ruby Rose thing to comment on that, but people who have been legitimately victimized do sometimes lash out disproportionately and at people who did not victimize them. It's something they need to stop doing (often with the help of compassionate, empathetic mental health professionals, since it is often the sign of continuing trauma), but doesn't make them any less of victims or the abuse against them any less real.

Having said that, it is not a realistic assessment of Fisher's to imagine that Warner Bros. is getting ready to take a gamble on the financial viability of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a black reimagining of an 80-year-old character who's always been depicted as white in a country with a long history of white supremacy (and which just got out from under an honest-to-God fascist president), just to get people to stop listening to his allegations. If Warner Bros. is taking that kind of financial risk, it's because they've decided there's sufficient U.S. customer interest in the idea of a black reimagining of Superman to make such a film financially viable.
