Normally I'd agree, but Mouse vs Musk ?

Dang.. huge ass corporate greed...but did give us MCU.. vs obnoxious asshole billionaire, but maybe the best chance humans get to go to Space any time soon... :vulcan:

Mystique? She was a Carol Danvers foe long before she was an X-Men foe. Of course, introducing yet another shape-shifting villain into the same corner of the MCU franchise might be problematic.

So the villain in Captain Marvel II has been cast. Zawe Ashton. Let the speculation begin as to who she could be playing.
I have no idea, but very interested...and thanks for inspiring me to look this movie up again.. Strongly female led throughout, and i see it is supposed to open Veteran's Day 2022 (which would be perfect considering Captain Marvel's origin)

Hm, apparently I've seen her once before in Doctor Who but it was in the forgettable "Into the Dalek." I guess I'll have to watch it again for her. She's also going to be in the next season of The Handmaid's Tale, so I'll see her in at least that.

Not really that familiar with Captain Marvel's rogues gallery, but it would be a hoot if she was playing Rogue.

CM doesn't really have much of a Rogues' Gallery. There's Yon-Rogg, Mystique, Moonstone...and that's it really.
And Yon-Rogg is borrowed from Mar-Vell and Moonstone from Captain America. Looking through her early run as Ms Marvel I see she was the first to fight Deathbird and Marvel's version of Hecate.

She also fought Ronan and the Supreme intelligence, as in the movie. But again, those aren't foes created specifically for her. If I recall correctly, it was always Chris Claremont's intent that Mystique be her arch-foe, but then the character was taken out of his control.

Aren't the Shi'Ar more commonly associated the X-Men?

Yes, but the whole point of a "Shared" universe means they can be used by anyone.

After all, Kingpin was originally a Spider-Man villain before they gave him to Daredevil.

Deathbird is a Shi'Ar and fought Carol. IIRC she was the first Shi'Ar seen in Marvel Comics, though I don't think she was meant to be a Shi'Ar at the time.

Nope. Her sister Lillandra beat her by a year and a half. Lillandra first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #97 in February of 1976 and Deathbird appeared in Ms Marvel #9, September 1977. Both were created by Chris Claremont.

Frankly, so was Carol Danvers up to a point. As pointed out, she had a Shi‘ar villain, Mystique premiered in an issue of Ms. Marvel and most if her original run was written by Chris Claremont. After he time on the Avengers, Claremont wrote her back into the universe in an Avengers annual featuring Rogue and from there she was an X-Men supporting character for most of the 80s.

Indeed, Carol's television debut -- and her only pre-2009 screen appearance -- was in an episode of the '90s X-Men animated series, "A Rogue's Tale," in which we learned of her role in Rogue's backstory.
