That's fair then. It just kind of bugs when people say something like that, but then when asked it turns they never actually saw any of the movies.
A post on the last page reminded me of another of my unpopular opinions, Insurrection is one of my favorite Trek movies. Of all of the movies it's the one that feels the most long an extra long episode with a bigger budget, and that is something that I've always wanted from the movies. Don't misunderstand, I enjoy the majority of the movies, but most of them are very different from what got on the shows.

My unpopular opinion, which I’ve posted about a million times I admit, is that I really liked The Last Jedi, even though my first reaction was “... what the fuck did I just watch” and it wasn’t until I’d seen it a few times that I actually knew what I thought of it.

Also, I thought Solo was the better of the spin-off movies, and while I enjoyed Rogue One at the time, I find myself enjoying it less and less on repeat viewing.

My unpopular opinion: release new seasons all at once on streaming services, so they can be enjoyed all at once with a good binge.

Me to. I can't take watching more than a 3 or 4 episodes of a show before I need something different. I will occasionally leave on all day marathons on TV, but in that case it's usually just background noise while I'm on my computer or tablet.

I always wonder when people binge a netflix season in a day, how exactly do they do it? Do they just plant themselves on the couch and just watch watch watch, probably causing information overload because your eyes have been to a screen for at least 6-8 straight hours? When the get to the last few episodes, are they comprehending what they are watching?

I too don't like binging because I have to move around. Granted there were some shows (Like Jessica Jones Season 1) where I did watch maybe 5 episodes but that was years ago and I can't see myself doing that now. Heck, I recently watched Clone Wars and Rebels, and despite the run time of each episode, I only saw like 4 or 5 episodes a day/night. I just can't sit still and have to have variety.

I feel like I miss out on things when I binge. I did it once, a couple of years ago, with Daredevil. And that was enough. I ended up rewatching specific episodes because the middle was a :censored:ing blur. And that's not the way I want to watch shows. I just find it so very draining to watch at one go. My head hurts.

I feel like I get more from a series by binging as I'm fully immersed in the world that has been created, go along with the characters journeys and get more out of the overall storyline, its a far more all-encompassing experience that just heightens the experience for me, staves off the boredom and isolation of lockdown tiers and lets me forget just how shite the world truly is for a few hours, the ultimate escapism.

Ah. That makes more sense than before and why I hate it. Escapism for me is not something I want as a total experience.

But do you do an entire season in a day. I'm not necessarily talking about binging a few episodes here and there, for 3 hours or something. I'm talking about people who go all the way and binge an 8-10 episode season (Which say average out to 50-60 minute episodes) in a single day. To me that seems like overkill.

Oh I've done that before with the likes of Mando and the Expanse, definitely how they should be watched as you're sucked right in. For series with 20+ episodes a season then it'll be split over a couple of days, and of course I do have to fit things around having to work.

It's why I've developed my new "pilot policy", if I'm going to commit hours of my life to something then there has to be something in the pilot that grabs me, be it the story, the writing, a character, the aesthetics, the tone, something (doesn't matter how small) that peaks my curiosity and makes me want to watch further, if that's not there then I don't bother with the rest of it--with the abundance of content on so many platforms then there's no point to watching something that can't make me sit up and notice from the first episode.

I like both binging and weekly. I find that some shows work better one way or another, others can go either way. Back when the Netflix Marvel shows were coming out I'd binge the latest season in a day or two the weekend it came out. The last two Mondays (I have Mondays off) I binged season 1 then 2 of The Good Place. Meanwhile I'm enjoying the weekly releases of Wandavision because that show works best with a week to let it simmer.

I actually spread my watching out over weeks or months. I like watching an episode a week, but it is not a hard and fast rule--sometimes I watch a couple of episodes a day of a series if I can and other times I will watch two or three episodes one weekend and then a few more a month later. With streaming I like to stop an episode part way through and pick it up later because that avoids the ending on a cliffhanger problem.

This actually reminds me of my coworkers and I some thirty years ago doing Star Wars OT and Star Trek I-V marathons. There was a core of about eight people that lasted through the whole thing each time. I was one of them because we were watching my tapes, and I wanted to make sure I got them back.

I went to a Trek Marathon held at theatre some time ago, back in the 90s! It was called "Sit long and prosper".

I turn The Empire Strikes Back off after the Battle of Hoth. It's my favorite part, it takes an hour, and I know what's going to happen once they get off the planet. It saves me like 1 and a half hours that way. But my friends are horrified when I tell them that.

Empire is overrated anyway. The asteroid sequence is really only my favorite part.

My friend and I's favourite films are the Back to the Future trilogy. One day we sat and watched all 3, but had to take a break after the second one for an hour, and then hardly enjoyed the third as we were getting restless. Totally agree I can't just sit and watch something for hours and hours, no matter how good it is. I gotta get up and do something after a while.
