    First of all, Rotties can be pussycats. Some pugs from a rougher environment would be able to take on some Rotties.



    I have real problems with that. The old testament doesn't actually forbid homosexuality. We need to stop this "religious beliefs" bullshit, as anyone might claim any random comment to be their religious claim. We gotta draw the line somewhere.

    If your religious beliefs state that homosexuality is wrong, don't marry someone of the same gender. No one will force you to.

    There's your religious freedom.

    Telling me I can't marry someone of the same gender is religious tyranny.

    I don't want to live in a Christian theocracy.

    Actually its not just Chrisianity, there are other religions that also say homosexuality is a sin, like Islam. (To the point of them still stoning them, or as in Isis just throw them off a building.)
    But I doubt an islamic bakery would be the first choice of a gay couple for there wedding cake.

    It's says freedom of All religion, not just Christians.

    But I do agree, marage shouldn't even involve the government at any level, and marry whomever you like.

    But it does involve the government (taxation, community property, child custody, inheritance).

    And religious nutjobs have pushed and pushed the government not to recognize same sex marriages.

    That's not freedom of religion, that's religious oppression., and a violation of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution.

    Marriage is a legal status of some type in every nation AFAIK, so there is no way for the government not to be involved, in lawmaking and in the courts.

    110% agree. in my whole life I've never understood denying rights to other people based on color, gender, orientation, why?
    If you've done an actual crime then some rights are lost temporarily or permanently, but only after your day in court.

    As for marriages yes sadly government is involved, and screws up the process. Should be just a rubber stamp of okay, you 2 were married by a some type of authority, here ya go, mazel tov.

    Freedom of speech only means the government can't censor you, it doesn't mean you get a free pass to say hateful shit without any criticism or personal consequences.

    I don't get what you're saying. Without marriage laws, there would be no process, there would be nothing to stamp. Government is involved with the administration of law, there is no way around it.

    They didn't used to be involved, was just a ship captain, you local pastor, common law, etc. but once you got Taxes ( which honestly doesn't work today with 2 income households, when I was maried always filed single) and other things, the government got involved, and then comes people with different opinions that stopped people from getting there licenses ( if you were gay, person of color, etc) when it should have been just a rubber stamp of the license from the start.

    I'm a firm believer in as little government as possible, they just screw things up sideways usually.

    Marriage, in a civil sense, is a contract.

    Contracts are subject to all kinds of oversight and laws.

    Nothing unusual about that.

    The government (or whatever law-making structure existed) has always been involved in marriage as long as it has existed as a state-recognized institution. Plato was writing about marriage property laws and tax penalties around 340 BCE.

    I agree that there should be no discrimination as to who can marry, but if you think that the government should not be involved on any level, I wonder what you picture as the alternative? People would still live together, would still commingle assets and property, and would still go to court when they split up and couldn't agree on everything. If all marriage laws were repealed, the civil courts would soon be in total chaos; everybody would agree "There ought to be laws to regulate this!"

    Guess I'm crap at explaining, sorry.
    I know that the government is in marriages, and all the ancillaries of family law. Was just trying to say, Marry who you want, the govenment should have no say in the matter whom you marry. And stay out as much as possible, not total anarchy and chaos.

    That's all well and good until you go to get married and no religion will marry you because they're against you getting married. The government is required to treat all citizens equally, religion is allowed and encourages discrimination. So without the government, only certain people will be allowed to get married, which is why this is a common dodge from those who oppose marriage equality but are trying to hide it.

    Never said some random priest from some hackney church had to bless the marriage.
