That fits the Kzinti mindset - and their classic 'scream and leap' attitude.
I’ve never even watched LD.Will you be tackling the Lower Decks vessels eventually as well?
Interesting. So would you be doing the TAS version, which has subtle differences from the TOS version? The final model could be the Enterprise given it’s a 3D model I have not yet done.
Also interesting. So, your interpretations of what TOS-R showed when it wasn't shown in TOS?That could be another thread subject exploring the ships of TOS particularly ships to be fleshed out or ships not actually seen.
Ah, a purist at heart I see!But candidly I have little interest in Trek hardware post the TOS based film era.
This I am really looking forward to!Candidly I don’t care for most of what was done in TOS-R so I don’t feel bound by what they did.
You know, I watched a few of the TAS episodes on DVD after I posted the YouTube version above, and noticed a few colouring mistakes I hadn't noticed before (McCoy in a command uniform after beaming up in one episode) but hadn't noticed those curved bridge stations! There is a lot of stylization in TAS. Note how the bridge stations are curved rather than straight lined. And even an extended hangar deck srill couldn’t account for the cavernous hangar interior we saw with vastly oversized shuttlecraft.
Example. Why was Kara’s ship in “Spock’s Brain” completely changed? There was nothing wrong with the original design that couldn’t have been fleshed out. This I am really looking forward to!![]()
I actually liked that redesign! Less 1950s rocketship look. Still want to see what you do with it!Example. Why was Kara’s ship in “Spock’s Brain” completely changed? There was nothing wrong with the original design that couldn’t have been fleshed out.
What annoyed me the most, after the low res model, was adding details that weren't on the original studio filming model (phaser bumps like the D-7 blueprints would show YEARS later), and impulse engines (but NOT the ones from the blueprints), and yet missing out the 'flush vent grids' from the nacelle struts! A complete shambles!Hell, they ruined the D7 battle cruiser. Never mind making it just another grey ship, but the cgi model itself is poorly rendered.
For the record I absolutely HATED what they came up with for the Aurora in “The Way To Eden.” Yeah, I get the reuse of the Tholian webspinner was disappointing (just as the reuse of the Botany Bay as the freighter Woden in “The Ultimate Computer”), but what they came up with looked dumb in my eyes.
You're explaining the obvious. I still think what TOS-R did looks stupid and something better could have been done.
