I could say the same re: my feelings on Peter David's Trek writing in general. I loved his stuff as a younger reader - Vendetta was either my favorite or second-favorite Trek novel, depending on how I was feeling about DRG III's Twilight at the time, and Q-Squared was top-5. I loved Imzadi, thought Q-in-Law was sidesplitting, and devoured every New Frontier book as soon as it hit shelves. I don't know whether it's a matter of some aspects of his writing not aging well, my tastes just changing as I age, or some combination of the two, but I haven't found a book of his that I've liked more on a re-read than I did back then.

(I still picked up Q-Squared and Q-in-Law. Heh.)

And Una McCormack is the bee's knees. I don't think she's written a Trek novel that's worse than "very good," and The Crimson Shadow and The Never Ending Sacrifice are all-timers. Even "more minor" works like The Missing are delightful.

March has some great stories discounted. I highly recommend Atonement and The Lives of Dax.

It looks like it is a celebration of both authors and characters that are women with the exceptions of David Mack, John Jackson Miller, and some male anthology authors.

A ton of repeats on the way. The only ones I haven't snapped up during previous sales are Uhura's Song and Die Standing. But I'm very excited to get both!

The Kindle version of Seven of Nine By Christie Golden seems to be in German. Anyone else getting that when they look?

I'm thinking of picking up The Battle of Betazed and The Lives of Dax, in addition to Seven.

So Simon & Schuster may have silently made some changes... I generally buy ebooks straight from them because they are DRM-free and they provide both EPUB and Kindle formats, which is nice to have the options open. (Whereas somewhere like Kobo just gives you the EPUB.)

...The "Buy from us" button has disappeared this month from S&S's site. Undeterred... I managed to add the books I wanted to buy to my cart and checkout anyways, which still works! ...But Die Standing, one of the newest offered books, apparently gave me an ACSM file (a DRM'd EPUB) file. Which is especially weird because you've never been able to buy DRM'd titles straight from Simon & Schuster before, and of course, their website still proudly proclaims they sell DRM-free Star Trek books.

So either S&S is undergoing some sort of site bug with regards to Trek ebooks, or they're removing the ability to buy DRM-free ebooks directly from them, or they're adding support for DRM'd titles. Or any combination of the above.

Not that converting to Kindle is hard, but it's good to have options. I'll have to keep that in mind.

It certainly used to be possible; I bought all my books from them up until their site revamp c. 2008. And I've been able to redownload the non-Trek titles as DRM'd ePubs since c. 2015.

I wish this was discounted in the U.S., but I guess we do get most of the good deals...

I feel precisely the same way. Perfect for preteen/young teen me. The jokes were hilarious, the innuendo probably seemed very mature, and PAD's comics-honed talent for retconning, for pacing, and for pulling together multiple narratives was exactly what I wanted as a reader. Even the name Vastator is etched forever in my mind. But it doesn't quite click with middle-aged me. Still readable for sure, but it doesn't hit the spot like it used to.
