One of my favorite comics is all about that.
Possible expansion on the Mirror universe in TOS: Was the events in The Alternative Factor a first attempt at a Mirror universe story, or was this something completely different? Crazy Lazarus in the real universe and Sane Lazarus in the Antimatter universe. Sounds similar to the Mirror universe. Also, real Kirk crossed over into the Antimatter universe and his positive matter body didn't cause a matter-antimatter reaction with that universe, so, another similarity with the Mirror universe. Was the concept of an antimatter universe only another description for the Mirror universe and not really an antimatter universe and both Lazari and Kirk got it wrong? YMMV.
Alternative Factor was one Weird Episode. It's hard to say what the writers were thinking, or smoking. I'm more inclined to agree they had a mirror in mind, not what anti-matter really means. Or simply a parallel universe where one Lazarus could not stand the idea there was more than one of him. I tend to skate past that one in my head canon.
I personally think that Kirk and Lazarus were not 100% accurate but went of the information that we know. Perhaps the term "antimatter" is not as accurate as a "quantum alternate" and their interaction of two quantum duplicates caused the instability. It would also be the same the Mirror Universe, where duplicates are able to interact without ill effect, both in live action and in ancillary materials.Possible expansion on the Mirror universe in TOS: Was the events in The Alternative Factor a first attempt at a Mirror universe story, or was this something completely different? I think it's called a tricorder.is there even a device that measures quantum signatures? What possible use could be an instrument that measures a quantity that never changes?
I think it's called a tricorder.
Tricorders are always the magical go to device that can answer the questions you never knew you had.
They used the ship's scanners. Tricorders are just a portable version of the ship's scanners. Do we really need to play Strict Canonical Adherence like we're on Memory Alpha about this?Well, maybe. I don't think they used the tricorder for that one... Not on camera at any rate.
Yeah, its not the Stargate SG1 mirror lolThe Intendant crosses over to the Prime Universe and interacts with Kira, so yes, it should be possible.

They do it in "Parallels" to determine that Worf isn't from their timeline.
Perhaps they would scan for it in general out of scientific curiosity?
Welcome to Star Trek.So if a quantity is invariable even in theory then why the hell would you even scan for it!!!! That doesn't make any sense!!!

She would have a baby. I'm pretty that's a simple question. What would have happened if Kira had become pregnant by a male from the universe the Intendant was from or Kirk from the Prime got a female pregnant in the Mirror Universe?
