News RUMOR: Whittaker potentially leaving

One thing I've always thought would be fun is an multi-Doctor episode with the current Doctor and the next Doctor. We've had the current Doctor with past Doctor's but never the future Doctor. The closest was Capaldi's eyes in Day of the Doctor.

That would be hard to pull off. But imagine running into a Doctor who is the next in line. The future Doctor references some mysterious/traumatic events, play up the mystery, and then we have to see how they get from that present point to the regeneration. I suppose at that point, the future Doctor would just be a guest star so perhaps not hard to keep a secret.

. But imagine running into a Doctor who is the next in line
I really hoped Ruth was gonna end up that. I'd love to have the next incarnation travel with their previous incarnation as a pretend companion for a few episodes pre-regeneration.

I barely remember that episode. saw it when it first aired and never bothered since.

Turns out you were right. In a deleted scene in Remembrance of the Daleks, the Doctor did say that he was more than just a Time Lord.

But, Lady Peinforte did drop such hints in Silver Nemesis as well.

Hell, she isn't even confirmed to be leaving so it's presumptious and inaccurate at the same time as sounding like she died.

Never let it be said Uncle Tim doesn't occasionally smile upon y'all.

(Edit: And I used her last name, because I'm really sick of the weird paternalism that fans have in referring to her by her first name while having no issue referring to Hartnell, Troughton and the rest down the line by their surnames.)

The exception being the Bakers. To avoid confusion I bend that etiquette and use Tom and Colin. Besides, when I read or hear the name Jodie, my first thought is Foster of "Contact" and "Silence of the Lambs" fame.

I tend to refer to Matt Smith as Matt, maybe because Smith seems very generic, other than that I will sometimes refer to Davison as Peter
I’ve a tendency to refer to the Doctors who are my sort of age and younger - David, Matt, Jodie - by first name. Ditto the Bakers, to distinguish them.

Two Peters, so I don’t say “Peter”, it’d be surname.

Mr Hartnell doesn’t really strike me as the first-name terms sort of guy, ditto Troughton or Pertwee (though the second two might be more informal than their predecessor). Might also be that they’re old enough to be my grandfathers!

(looks at John Bishop’s ‘Dan’ with narrowed eyes)

... nahhhh, Chibnall ain’t that clever.

So the next doctor can do this?

Dan- But! But! Its..........

Whitaker- Yeah it's bigger on the inside.

Dan- *underneath his breath* I love it when I say that.

Love that whole scene both actors just nailed it.

I like him, and we haven't really had a suave Doctor in a while. Plus his English is very good and his English accent impeccable. I do expect the 14th Doctor to be another woman and/or person of colour however.

Yeah, I think you’re right, it was more of a general observation (Dracula also reminded me of how much I miss Moffat’s writing in Who, but that’s by-the-by).

Ugh, I absolutely loathed his character on The Affair. I know that's just one role and all but that left a very strong impression on me.

I don’t actually remember him in it, but I bailed a season or two before it ended.
