Honestly, I think it is for the best. I am sure she is a fine actress. Nothing against her personally. But I don't think she clicked in the role. She has no real memorable moments as the Doctor. She was kind of bland. She was not a good Doctor. She did not have charisma with Jack Harkness or the other companions. The companions did not have any real chemistry with her either. Some of that might be the fault of the writers. But it is what it is. Better to find a new Doctor that will hopefully be better.

A tabloid quoting anonymous 'insiders'; not exactly convincing. Not saying it's impossible, just that it's hard to believe without corroboration from more reliable sources.

QFT.

RadioTimes reached out to the BBC on this subject and got no response (hence that outlet (RadioTimes) saying that the BBC declined to comment on the matter), so there's "no there there".

Plus, as I've already pointed out, Jodie's own words from just 5 weeks ago directly contradict The Mirror's claim that she's told producers she's leaving and wants to pursue other roles.

It has been an awful long time.

July 16th 2017.

Almost 4 years of abuse from misogynists, and all she has to show for it is two seasons and a special.

Well you can't blame her for that but lay the blame at the BBC for lack of production and maybe a worldwide pandemic.. That just may have factored into things on top of it all.

Again, Jodie's own words contradict what The Mirror is claiming, and with the BBC dismissing said claim as speculation, she has the final word at the moment.

Considering there's been some dodgy writing, her costume's awful, Tosin Cole's worse and they keep having her say 'Fam', I've still enjoyed it.

I hope she does stick around (and they address the other issues).

Chibby thinks that he is doing a fantastic job.

The only reason he would ever half ass it, is if he has a great idea, but runs out of money.

Nothing is going to be "fixed" until you replace him.

Jodie is fine keep her but get rid of Chibnall that's a great idea. I like that idea. See if they can woo one of the older writers back like Davies or even Moffat

I don't mind the theory, I'm just curious how a prison like that would have survived the Time War as it was, given that post-TW the Time Lords became legends and thus their remnants have to be legends also (I just finished the RTD era part of my marathon, thus the legends bit).

Shada slipping outside of the Time War seems like far smaller ask than when was saw that Karn and its sisterhood had apparently also survived the whole thing (since the Doctor could get there even before he found where Gallifrey had spit itself back out into the universe at the beginning of season 9).

Over on Facebook, would have to check who said it. Mainly an observation about how Jack's comment on checking up on Gwen was a dubbed voiceover.

PR is PR. Nobody on the team is going to say "John Bishop is a work round of John Barrowman being unavailable" rather than "John Bishop is a great addition to Who". Even if the former is perhaps the case. Dunno, seems possible.

When you consider he would be next alphabetically in the BBC light entertainment phone book, it does become likely.

Revolution of the Daleks
The 2021 New Year Special. An interesting episode, but certainly gripping. Captain Jack being back was icing on the cake. More on Jack (and his interactions with Yaz in particular) below. Graham, Ryan and Yas have spent 10 months waiting for the Doctor (matching the real life time). Meanwhile the Doctor has been languishing in the prison, but more on that later. Yas. She has been staying in the House TARDIS, trying to figure it out to go after the Doctor. But why would she be sleeping in the Console Room?
Surely, she would have found a bedroom somewhere in there. Has she abandoned her job as a police officer? What is happening with her family? There are plenty of questions here. More on her reaction to the Doctor when she does show up below. Graham and Ryan seem to have coped better. (Not much to say there. See about their farewell below). The Doctor in the prison. She seems resigned to her fate, and is surprised when Jack rescues her. That at least one Weeping Angel was captured is surprising.
(They managed it somehow). Jack spending 19 years in prison to rescue the Doctor. It would be a very short part of this life at this point (given that he had lived through the 20th Century on the slow path at least twice (maybe more, but I haven’t watched Torchwood), so it wouldn’t be that much of a sacrifice for him. Yas’ reaction when the TARDIS lands in Graham’s living room wasn’t over the top, but it says a lot about what is going on with her. (“We were worried about you!” clearly meant “I was worried about you!”)
But the threat! Robinson’s character is consistent with his appearance in Arachnids in the UK. Daleks are Daleks, not much to say there either, albeit the Doctor calling in the SAS Daleks was a surprise, as was her sacrifice of the former House TARDIS. Some things stand out, others didn’t. I would have liked the new PM to survive, but that wasn’t to be. Jack and Yas’ talk in Osaka. It’s obvious that she wasn’t ready to leave the Doctor, but Jack would have given her something to talk about. Ryan and Graham’s departure wasn’t perfect, but it was still rather good.
The Doctor’s comment on one heart being happy and the other sad was apt. (Not sure what to make of the vision of Grace though). Overall a good episode. 8.4/10.

Just got around to watching the special...not much to say about the show itself; the Daleks just don't feel like a threat anymore, and just having the Doctor rant on about how evil they are doesn't help matters. It's the old "show, don't tell" dilemma. Plus, most of it just felt like recycled plot elements from the Davis era.
Speaking of recycling Davis material: It was fun to have Jack back and glad he's reconnecting with Gwen...though did the 'Miracle Day' thing still happen, or is that one of those things the crack in the universe erased from the timeline? This show's long term continuity is so confusing...

Even though the departing companions are easily my favourite of the trio, I'm a glad they're moving on. The show could do with a bit of a refresh and Yas needs some room to come into her own.

Not surprised to hear there's rumours that Jodie is ready to move on. Mostly because there's always rumours of that, but even a broken clock is right twice a day, and three seasons is about how long most of the modern era Doctors have lasted. Still, it would be a shame. She's a great Doctor and I feel like she hasn't been given very good material to work with thus far, so it would be nice to see her in a better version of the show. If not, then at least we'll have a potential multi-Doctor story with her for the 50th. Seeing her bounce off Capaldi, Smith and/or Tennant is bound to be fun if nothing else!

The crack in time got you! 60th.
