Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

When asked about the remaining Klingon ships from DIS, Ben said: "The plan is definitely to do more. To be honest these Klingon ships don’t sell brilliantly, so we’ll work our way through the Picard, Disco and SNW ships first."

The fact that they will be making new SNW ships gives me hope that they are designing new mid-23rd century Starfleet vessels that look more like TOS ships than that hodgepodge of DSC season 1 designs that looked far more advanced than they should have looked.

Am I the only one who thinks the gold and blue Sech class is clearly the most interesting design from the Binary Stars fleet? I wonder why that one gets postponed while much more boring ships - especially the Batlh class - are still made as part of the DIS collection.

There wasn’t a single DSC Klingon ship that looked interesting to me. They all looked like random alien designs that had 0% in common with any Klingon ships we’d seen before. I personally could care less if they didn’t make more of them. Hopefully SNW will get on the ball and design new Klingon ships that actually look the part.

They really didn't.

The only class that looked in any way more primitive than the TOS Enterprise was the Engle, as it was based on the NX-01 design. The rest of the ships looked like they came from an era after TUC, and the Cardenas in particular looks like it could fit right in with Alex Jaeger’s First Contact ships. But I’ve mentioned this many times before, so it really shouldn’t surprise you.

They don't look Klingon, but I still think they look interesting. My headcanon is that most of them are actually captured ships from other races the Klingons waged war against. The Sech class, for example, must be from an alien culture whose ships all have that Egyptian look, and I'd love to see more of that. The designs themselves aren't bad.

If they were smaller models like from the regular line, they might have done well. And, as others have mentioned, since they weren’t terribly well received as Klingon ships, I don’t ever expect them to make these a priority at all. Fed ships have always been more popular in any case. YMMV.

Blame that on me. I hate the Klingon ships from DSC Season 1, and specifically excluded them from my standing order at my local comic shop. I mean, what was even up with those peacock fighters? Not for me.

I ended up with the sarcophagus ship by mistake. I hate it even worse after seeing it.

ETA: I don't hate them as KLINGON ships; I hate them as ships, period. They could be designs for some totally new alien navy and I'd still despise them. The designs just don't work for me.

Trust me, you're not alone. I personally always felt they would have been better as ships being used by another species entirely, but that's just me. Water under the bridge now. But yeah, in general, they really don't do it for me. My collector's OCD, however, will get every single damn one of them whether I like it or not! :scream:

Fortunately they're aren't THAT many of them, and I think if we see more Klingon designs, even in the 32nd century, they're likely to look vastly different.

Would you buy a shuttlecraft set that only includes escape pods? Enterprise E, Voyager, Delta Flyer, and Saratoga, for example.
Pass. I would want to, but no.

Between my DVD, book, and ships collections, I just don't have the shelf space anymore to buy anything other than the Federation or other hero ships, especially at the DSC size scale. Even that is going to be pushing it. If the new series are prolific and long-lived, I may actually have to break my cardinal rule and leave ships boxed.

Or win the Powerball and buy a bigger house.

I lack display space so what I do is keep the majority of my collection boxed then I rotate them for display in my display case (a repurposed aquarium).

Well. I've been notified that my shuttle set 7 has shipped.

Except that it was a set which I ordered by mistake (having already pre-ordered it in October) and I'd called and cancelled it at the beginning of December.
SOMEBODY DIDN'T DO THEIR JOB.
So now I have to wait till it arrives, send it back, and hope that they remember to refund my money.

You could always sell it on eBay. You might make a profit from it

Didn't get around to mentioning but a got a couple of ships from my family for xmas. Since I couldn't fly out to see them, given the circumstances, it was nice to have a box to open.

I ended up getting the "Cage" Enterprise and Friendship 1. Both nice models. It's interesting to see the difference between this Enterprise and the series one. I wasn't crazy about the probes on the Bussard collectors. They kind of remind me a bit too much of nipples. The large deflector dish is rather odd looking. I can see why they changed both. The nacelle vents are neat, but I can see why they'd want to get away from anything that suggests some sort of jet engine.

The episode that featured it was not an episode I cared for, but Friendship 1 is a great model. I love the wear on it. It really looks something more primitive than the Starfleet ships we're used to.

The other one I was hoping for was the concept Reliant. I'll probably get that one for myself a bit later.

Ordered the STO USS Avenger and DSC's Hou-Yi today.

2nd Shuttle set has not shown up yet.

I can't remember my Paypal or Ebay passwords anyway, haven't used either in 15 years.
