When Orga tried to consume Godzilla through Space Tentacles, Godzilla simply channeled a burst of atomic breath to incinerate them.

Jules Verne should be proud his menacing Giant Squid endures across the centuries...

They already did the mechanical squid thing with the probe in season 2. It came back from the temporal vortex with tentacles.

Haven't caught up on discourse on this particular topic yet, but in case folks are unhappy with the source of the Burn but they haven't considered every factor: remember, we still need to find out what triggered Su'Kal's uh, little outbreak. I personally enjoy the twist thus far but I look forward to discovering the rest.
This is pretty much why I said I think there's more to it. By itself, I'm not too thrilled with it. But a situation setting this up to allow it to be possible in the first place? Now you've got me.

Yeah! I mean, I do like it already as I said, but it has the potential to go from "hm, fair" with me to "oh damn." We'll see how it goes, haha. I wish it was Thursday!

Apparently Osyraa know that Stamets is essential to running the spore drive. But does she know why he's essential?

The more I think about this, the more it seems obvious that there's a mole at Starfleet or on the Discovery.
This also makes me wonder if she knew that Tilly was bluffing about blowing up the Discovery -- not because Tilly didn't have the guts to do it, but because the ship can't be self-destructed; Zora won't allow it. A mole at Starfleet might have passed that information along.

I like to think Vance is clever enough to obliterate the Emerald Chain by setting a trap with Discovery as unwitting bait. Yes, I like to think this...

But Book is probably the aforementioned mole. Why? Because it will break Michael's heart, and she will have to choose her crew over him. And won't be able to have her cake and eat it, too.

But taking out Starfleet Headquarters won't take out Starfleet.

At best it will just slow them down a bit as the 30 some planets still part of the Federation build a new HQ.

There's a reason why Starfleet/Federation HQ is hidden behind a distortion field in the Unknown Regions: They, at least, seem to think that a decapitation strike would be devastating to a Federation already crippled by mass secession and unable to exert its reach as it once had.

Maybe Kovich is working with or for the Emerald Chain.

OK serious thought programmable matter could for instance have sprung up around all the bad guys trapping them. What would bitch lady do then if all her troops were immobilized and couldn't function? Hell this is so easy.

Even the Andromeda had gun turrets on the walls and ceilings to target hostiles and they auto fired, and that was a hero ship of the good guys on that show.

And in Picard.

if this is the case we all know what Michael is going to do, right?

:wah:

unknown regions? That’s a Star Wars thing, the HQ is just in the interstellar void.

What did you think of Osyraa's ship grappling arms? I thought they were kind of cheesy. I mean, no improved tractor beam in the 32nd century?

Maybe the Pakled are behind the Emerald Chain. :D

seems like no physical contact no spore jump. And how did they know that? Convenient there’s no more spinning.

The real question here.

If all that's needed is physical contact, why didn't they hook Discovery up to Federation HQ and turn it into a mobile battlestation?

Oh please. Do me a favor and go rewatch TOS S2 "The Deadly Years" or hell the TNG feature film "Generations"; and get back to me on how Starfleet never puts green Captains in command of major Federation starships.
At least they'd never put an untrained teenager on the bridge...

Yeah.
