I am reading comments where the posters think that this is an inside job. That makes sense to me, as they knew where to land personnel and how to control the spore drive operator. The quickness of the mind control device reminded me of Loki's staff in the first Avengers movie, where, if he touched the person with it, they became his slave.
I have a bad feeling The Admiral IS the leader of the Emerald Chain........he's been working both sides for years.

My theory: When his mother died the baby started to sing this siren song sung by this opera singer. Then the song triggered "The Burn" :guffaw::D:hugegrin:

My theory: Vance is a descendant of Admiral Dougherty. And I think he will meet his end in a similar way at Osyrra's hand like Dougherty did:

It's Grudge. She's the traitor.

Grudge walked differently, that's why she's in sickbay - she has a bug in her paw? XD

I wouldn't be surprised if somehow Osyraa's men planted a bug on Grudge or within Book's ship and the bug has been slowly leaking audio information to Osyraa and Grudge somehow managed to step on the bug and get it stuck within it's paw.

I know the CIA once tried to put a radio transmitter bug into a cat at the subdermal layer.

So using Cat's to spy on people isn't unheard of.

The only problem was that they couldn't control the cat so the project was a failure.

If this is the real cause of The Burn, then that's a hell of a letdown.
Mutated child gains powers through radiation that emits some sort of SubSpace wave that resonates with Dilithium, all because he's crash landed on a Dilithium planet and somehow his cells adapt in the most random way to have synergy with Dilithium such that his cry's can resonate with Dilithium and turn Dilithium Crystals inert?

Sounds like the origin story for a mutant in X-men.

"What you want is Irrelevant." Seems like 32ND century freed Borg, and Borg tech.

Meh-better than a villain twisting his mustache and swearing REVENGE!!!!!!!

Nobody controls a cat.............maybe Grudge will SAVE everyone at the last minute when she transforms into a higher being.

Well, that was... weird!

Although I do like the fact The Burn wasn't caused by some big evil mustache twirling villain, this resolution (?) seems a bit underwhelming.

As for the whole Emerald Chain thing... boring.

I did like the mysterious nature of the episode.

Gave it an 8.

So Discovery is captured, Stamets has white eyes... things can only get better after that.
Winter IS coming............

It's a shame Tilly was only bluffing about turning on the self-destruct. Tell me there's at least an ounce of chance she did think to rig something up if not that during all that time they spent cloaked.
I don't think she was bluffing. She was taking off guard by someone selling them out.

Well, I think they'll solve this one with a deus ex machina, which will not only get them the ship back will neutralize the emerald chain altogether.

I am glad Osyra got a better make-up this time, btw.

Nah, way too obvious. The writers seems to be going out of their way to avoid the obvious this season.
That's the only thing that keeps me trying to figure out WHO ELSE it COULD be. Booker, Grudge, the Andorian (Mary Wiseman's hubby). I like going in to the final stretch not having it all figured out. As long as they don't Scooby Doo it or hit a reset button a la Berman era, I think I'll be fine.
