With the DC Rebirth era at an end, it is best to start fresh with a new thread as the comics move into a new era.

Opening topics can include anything from the Endless Winter (probably soon forgotten) storyline, Death Metal, Future State, and beyond.

Related to upcoming DC stuff, I'm tired of people taking over team books and putting their pet characters on the team. Naomi doesn't deserve to be on the Justice League, period. This is almost as bad as Mark Waid sticking children on the Avengers team, except in this case its just one member and not half the team being teens like in Waid's Avengers.

Also, I just learned that Naomi's last name is McDuffie, which is kind of tacky if he named her after Dwayne McDuffie, which he had to have done. But, maybe they were good friends or something, i don't know. Seems kind of a weird thing to do, not that McDuffie doesn't deserve tributes in general, but a random shitty Bendis character seems like a poor place for one.

    Your picture didn't come up.
That Endless Winter event is kind of weird, it's all over a ton of books, but I haven't seen anything about it on of the sites I go to. Everything DC related has been about either Death Metal, or Future State and the books after it.

I haven't even started reading it yet. I am trying to get caught up on books I'm behind on. I am buying it because it crosses over to other books on my pull list.

EDIT: Looking at the March solicitations, there is no Aquaman. The March releases seem to be sticking to the Big Guns of the DC Universe--lots of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman but little else except for The Flash and a handful of others. There is no LSH either.

He's kind of DC's oldest legacy character in universe. ;)

Point taken. Though, of course, the Silver Age Flash, Green Lantern, Atom and Hawkman all came before him.

On second thought the Spectre probably predates the first Avatar of the Green, what with being an angel.

    Yup.

Even we count only the "host bodies" rather than Aztar, the "Spectre Force" that transfers between hosts, then in pre-Flashpoint continuity, the Spectre was been a "legacy character" for nearly two thousand years before it merged with the original Jim Corrigan, the "first" Spectre.

At the moment, I'm down to Superman, Action, LSH, and a few of the 0.99$ out of continuity digital firsts that started last spring. A few years ago, I was getting Superman, Action, JL, The Flash, Green Lantern (various titles), Wonder Woman, along with many of the "event" titles. The Metal/Death Metal/Dark Multiverse/Villain/etc. things began the whittling down process for me. Even the three I kept, I kept because Superman and LSH are my favourite DC going back to the early 70s--but it's been more out of habit than any real enthusiasm (and I've had significant gaps in buying in the past, so I might stop again).

I'm hoping new blood and the end of this "Metal Madness" (it is ended, right?) might make things more interesting to me again--but I can't say I have high hopes at the moment. Is this Winter thing worth pursuing or is it just another Metal spin-off? And is LSH going to continue? Seems unclear from the quick searching I've done. LSH was my first "regular purchase", back in 1973 (I sometimes had enough to grab another title or two, depending on how many coins I had in pocket, but LSH was always a must buy).

In any case, another break won't be the end of the world. It's not like I don't have other things to read.

I suspect that they wouldn't have given the Legion a Future State mini if they didn't have plans for them going forward.

Aquaman actually doesn't have an issue out in March, either. It might be the case that, with the shrunk editorial staff and the intention of smaller monthly output, some of these books might not be monthlies, but bi-monthlies, or maybe they have a more a publishing structure of a 6-issue miniseries per year. Another possibility is that they'll introduce a Superman Family anthology series similar to the new Batman Urban Legends, where they'd put material such as LSH, Supergirl, solo adventures of Steel, Connor or Jon Kent.

As for my planned pull list, some carry-overs are the Batman B&W mini-series, Batman vs. Ra's, final issue of Morrison's GL, Other History of the DC Universe, and Truth & Justice, as well as the Superman books (including Batman/Superman), Justice League and Wonder Woman. Of the new launches, I'll get the Infinite Frontier one-shot, maybe TT Academy, the Wally fan in me makes me give The Flash a shot, and probably the Sensational Wonder Woman book.

The only teenage adjacent character that ever was worthy of being in the JL was Firestorm, and Naomi isn't fucking Firestorm. She's not even Vibe, if we're comparing her to horrible JL members.

Also, of course I never read her book. Bendis is a shitty writer, and I don't even read books he writes nowadays about good characters. His teen heroes are even worse, its like reading the old Bob Haney Teen Titans comic, an old man who doesn't understand "the kids today" trying to write teenagers. This is the man who has devolved so much as a writer that he ruined Jessica Jones years after he created her, and Naomi is shit from her basic premise, while at least Jessica Jones was a good idea that Bendis had and took awhile for him to ruin. Naomi is just teen idiot #3456. DC usually does teen heroes better then Marvel, but naomi is 1000% just a generic Marvel teen hero, like Ms. marvel or (more accurately based on her backstory, I guess) America Chavez, done in DC.

Also, after he ruined Legion of Superheroes, Bendis can just fuck off forever. I almost felt like burning my fucking New Avengers TPBs after he did that shit, he's retroactively ruined even his prior good work in my opinion. He's not as bad as Tom King or Scott Snyder, and he's a different kind of bad from them, but he's still one of the worst DC writers.

Well those are the big, universe shattering, continuity rewriting stories. Endless Winter is just a standard little "super heroes get together to stop a powerful big bad guy" story.

    But...she's not in the JL...
