DC Comics Ongoing Discussion

The most recent Justice League incarnation was more of a Justice League Unlimited approach with all of the heroes being members even though the book focused on a more traditional Big 7 line up. With Bendis writing, he is bringing in his own original character.

She is now, it seems. She's on the cover of the March issue, as part of the new Infinite Frontier launch.
Every writer gets to put their own creation in the JLA. I think Firestorm creator Gerry Conway put him in the League when he was the writer.

Considering that Naomi has a TV series in development it makes sense to give her a more prominent role in the comics. And I imagine DC is hoping to catch some of the Miles Morales magic.

But...she's not in the JL...

She's going to be in the Bendis written JL, thats what we've been talking about

He also has Black adam and Hippolyta on the team, which is stupid but at least both have been on hero teams before (both having been JSA members, and Hippolyta was in the JL years ago when Diana was dead for awhile).

And Grant Morrison did the same with Zauriel and Aztek.

Both of whom were side/reserve members, were definitely not teenagers and were terrible characters. Also, just fyi, Aztek was killed in Morrisons run, and Zauriel was barely used by anyone else. They're easily some of the more obscure members.

Irrelevant to the point being made.

Most of the reactions I've seen to Naomi seem to be pretty positive, so I don't really see her becoming a JL member as a bad thing.

Today is release day for the final issue of Dark Knights: Death Metal and the first batch of Future State comics. I'm very curious about a lot of the Future State stuff, so I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of reactions that get here, and around the web.

I won't be making it to my LCBS until the end of January. I have all my Death Metal stuff to read before getting the final issue. As for Future State, I am only getting a few of the series and skipping the Superman and Batman titles altogether. There are just too many of them.

I skipped the entire Metal thing. Does anyone know if that will make the Future State thing indecipherable?

I looked over the various previews for this week's Future State books. Nothing caught my attention as a must buy so I'll wait until they're available on the DC app in 6 months. I did buy Generations Shattered which I enjoyed.

It sounds like this is going to be a pretty fresh start, so you'd probably be OK.

With any comic event these days, you can always find a synopsis online if there is anything that you want to know.

True. But I get the feeling a synopsis of Metal and all its variants would resemble War and Peace in its length.

I was thinking more along the lines of looking up any references that you're curious about. But Metal has been going on for three and a half years now, or is it four? The best thing about it was the pretty fantastic Justice League run.

You mean the Justice League run that makes the Silmarillion feel like Dr. Seuss when it comes to overly complex, overly written bullshit? Seriously, even someone like Grant Morrison couldn't write something more hard to follow and also just plain shit if he tried. It is also directly responsible for dextroying several comics that were completely unrelated to the run (I will never forgive them for ruining the very good Supergirl comic by making her "infected" by the events of JL, which were completely unrelated to her book).

Fuck that JL run, from the idiotic bullshit about the Source Wall, to introducing the Monitor's fucking mother, which is so fucking stupid it feels like something Hickman would have written it if he was a DC writer. Even the New 52 JL was better written, and I considered that to be the worst run in the history of the Justice League until the current bullshit.

Did you like Snyder's Batman run? I've been loving it so far, and I was curious how you felt about that compared to Death Metal.
