Before I started watching, I was praying almost that Lorca would appear, but after it was over, I was actually kind of glad it didn't happen... It was really a story about Georgiou and her change, and that was executed perfectly.

I am also so, so glad RDM made such an ass of himself, and has -probably unwantingly- exposed the Fandom Menace for being biased as hell. This episode was made all the better by the inclusion of the Guardian of Forever.... and I think deep down he knows it.

This two-parter was a highlight of the season for me, even though I've never liked the MU that much...
maybe its because this show can't stop using things from the past, badly even thou they sent them ahead of time to free themselves from cannon.

Maybe because fans demand familiar? They will never be free of canon because it has been used as a bludgeoning instrument so often.

pretty good episode however last week was better and i still think setting the section 31 show in the 23 century to be a mistake especially if that terrible character tyler come's back which he probably will :sigh:
I have to wonder if:
They'll just go off and put her in an actual TOS (TV circa 1966) looking 23rd century - and cement the idea that ST: D; STP, SNW actually do take place in a slightly 'alternate' Universe. Either way, I'm happy "Section 31 is a go -- and happy to see Michelle Yeoh headlining her own Star Trek series. BIG WIN!

Another 9.

Loved the episode and LOVED the use of the Guardian Of Forever in this manner -- it was GREAT.
(And given the Temporal War background story of this future, I like the writers didn't just hope everyone forgot the Guardian of Forever existed. It would make sense that whoever knew of it would try to subvert it to their advantage in any Temporal conflict.)

Here the writers make use of something well known in Star Trek lore - and some fans give them s*it over it.

RMB can go screw himself -- considering he was part of one of the largest fan film debacles (and attempted IP theft of Star Trek itself) -- doubly so (IMO).

ETA:
For what it's worth RMB appears to have deleted his twitter account.

IMO - no great loss there.

It's called a Mirror Image where things are inverted.

The reason it's not complicated is because it doesn't need to be.
Isnt mirror usually backwards and not upside down. Made me think of Stranger Things more than Star Trek
They should have changed all the starfleet symbols for Terran ones at least

Good point. I would've had it right-side-up but, recently, I was looking into the water and I noticed the reflection and it was upside down. So I figure maybe they were probably going for "The World Is Upside Down"?

I miss the disembodied majesty of the 60's Guardian, an authoratative entity so mysterious and undefined it transcends the very time it generously archives for perusal.

The new user interface has more personality, certainly, but I just feel something has been lost.

Agree. It makes the Guardian a little more mundane.

The way the episode was structured, it made me think Michael lied to Saru and everyone else.
She just told everyone she was "gone". It's not her fault if they jump to the conclusion that means "dead". :)

And in the 23rd century - Captains made inaccurate reports all the time.

- Kirk: " Kahn Noonian Singh and Historian Marla McGivers - 'died' ". (and Spock went along with the lie too)

- Sulu: "Tried to penetrate Klingon space and rescue Captain Kirk and Leonard McCoy from Rura Penthe...I Never did any such thing..."

and "No - I don't know how The 1701-A found out about the location of the Khitomer Conference - I NEVER contacted them..."

So yeah, Michael and Saru (who probably really doesn't know) are totally in line with being 23rd century characters here.

So, I guess Georgeau will continue in her own series? It was cool seeing the guardian. I just hope I don't see another mirror universe episode for a long time.

The Guardian of Forever? WOW!!

I'm going to miss Georgiou, I know her Section 31 series was delayed so Pike could leapfrog into place but I'll be looking forward to it. Until then, I hope we see her again from time to time.

I don't know if prime Burnham cried in this episode, but I'll allow it this time. :)

Loved the episode, it gets a 10 from me.
