Jon Watt's to direct "Fantastic Four"

I'm not a big fan of Jon Watts spiderman movies. I guess Fantastic 4 will have the same lighter, fun tone that the Spiderman movies have.

Is this a continuation from the last film, or something new altogether?
Eh....

The 90s film is actually not that bad an attempt to do a FF movie with the resources they had, even taken on its own. It certainly had problems (the whole subplot with The Jewler was stupid and unnecessary, and obviously it was pretty low budget), but it also had its charms and it felt like it at least wanted to be a FF movie, unlike Fant4stic. I'm actually kinder to the 2005 film then most people, I think it had a lot of good elements even if it should have had more superhero-ing, but would still probably put the 90s movie over it as a FF film, even if the 2005 film was probably a better movie. Rise of the Silver Surfer was absolutely rancid, though.

I'd really like to just not see Dr. Doom in the first movie. I'd rather see someone like Moleman, with Doom maybe just hinted at. Eventually it would be nice to get an MCU Doom, but starting out I'd prefer the variety of not having Doom really connected to their origin and not being their first foe.

I just watched the 2005/7 films a couple days ago. They are the epitome of what a super hero film should be. The bad ratings are baffling.

Great acting and special effects. You get to see how they got their powers, good and bad guys. See them learn how to use them and great examples of them using them well. Evans was epic in the first film. The best thing about the movie. He is a far better Human Torch than a Captain America.

Those two films were awesome.

My one hope for the film (beyond just, you know, being good) is that they keep the idea of the F4 as the first superheroes. Maybe have them fell into a wormhole in 1963 and reappear in 2023 or something.

That would be kind of repetitive at this point and it wouldn't make them the first mcu superheroes, anyway. Also, they were never the first superheroes in the comics to begin with...

I agree. Start with Namor, or Moleman.

Or Heck, go to the Negative Zone and have them fight Annihilus and Blastaar.

yeah i too really enjoyed the 2005 movie, great entertainment.
