Would they tell us wtf is going on with Phillipa already? There isn't much time left, I am assuming we have to wait till the two parter Next week. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Not a bad episode, though it felt kinda rushed for some reason.

Very curious about a couple things in the trailer for next week:
What’s the deal with the 2350’s operations gold TNG uniform, and is the crewman wearing it a redesigned Benzite without the breathing apparatus?

I didn't think they'd make Georgiou even more bitchy, but they did
The Federation distress signal is actually a Romulan alert. :rommie:
    Another boring one.
But next week... a TNG S1 uniform with a GEN communicator? :wtf:

That scene of Owo, Nilsson, Detmer, Rhys, and Bryce laughing at the end at the table--the show's losing out having so few scenes of them.

Pretty dull. Nice that they could solve the 100-year problem with two minutes of technobabble.

The space battle looked straight up Star Wars.

I liked Tilly as first officer. Not sure I found her portrayal consistent with what we’ve seen from her this season, but the dynamic between her and Saru worked well enough.

The captain’s catchphrase business has gotten too meta for its own good.

A lot of this episode felt hokey to me, from Osyraa killing her nephew to Georgiou’s scenery chewing to the pat “power of brotherly love” resolution.

I love how easily Burnham can just dismantle and disarm Georgiou’s snappy comments now. The way she just dismissed that comment about her killing her mother really got a chuckle out of me.

Also nice to see Detmer transform into Poe Dameron for an episode.

Gonna give this one an 8. REALLY liking Book so far and this Book centered episode wasn't too bad. Did feel a bit rushed, but it worked out. Also did lack all the melodrama that was so prevalent last week and instead focused on action based drama. Next weeks episode preview seems interesting, and David Cronenberg returns! Wonder if he's directing any episodes this season?

I can understand to a point why Osyraa would want Ryn, but why would she want Cleveland Booker? He has no secrets that could threaten her organization.

    So:

    1. The ship in the Nebula is definitely Discovery
    2. Discovery probably tried to use the Guardian to prevent the burn, or by using it they caused the Burn. Hence a Predestination paradox.
    3. Most likely they are going to use the Guardian to send Phillipa into the future, or past to the MU, maybe, maybe not. She is definitely dieing on a Quantum level from the two universes being ripped apart.
    4. Now we know the Song is a distress signal, and it was most likely sent out by Zora.
    5. I have a feeling that originally before COVID that Part 1 was going to be the Cliffhanger with the Guardian, and then they were going to take their break during Christmas, and the second two parter was going to be in January, but since COVID happened, no break because of how long the season took to come out.

Shhh, they’re running out of dilithium. But isn’t everyone running out of dilithium?

This was one of my favorite DISCO episodes period and one of the best this season for me. I thought they packed a lot in this episode and handled it all fairly well. The production values are still excellent. I'm even liking the more serious and acerbic First Officer Tilly more than the awkward cute Cadet/Ensign Tilly. Their relationship seems to loosen up Saru as well, and provided for some nice comedic moments. I still don't agree with Saru's decision but I can't deny that the two actors have chemistry and their characters work well together.

They've also progressed Stamets, allowing him a softer, fatherly or mentor side when it comes to Adira, and this episode also gave us a little more for Adira as well, establishing that they are nonbinary in universe. I've liked the interaction between Culber and Georgiou since last season and I'm glad we got to see more of that this episode and hopefully it is something the series will keep building on. And the writers didn't forget Detmer's PTSD and gave her a hero moment, while also giving some spotlight to Ryn.

A very good use of the ensemble this week while also debuting Osyraa in the flesh as well as Book's brother, and even getting to visit his home planet. I'm even enjoying the darker, richer green Orion makeup this season opposed to their first season take on them. I almost forgot that we even got some answers about The Burn, while that mystery also deepened. It felt to me that each subplot or thread got enough screen time and focus, all with deft pacing.

It's a regular S1 uniform (or later season background uniform) with only a wider neck for that Betelgeusean. Not a skant.

I think the planet was pre-warp before Osyraa showed up, and they've been isolated from any capital starship help (other than Osyraa's) for a century (since the Burn). Also probably explains lack of replicators on this planet (Osyraa won't give them any).

So it makes sense within the context of what we've been told. What's more troubling is that I'm sure Osyraa is menacing tons of planets. Book's planet gets saved just because he's romantically involved with a Starfleet officer? Why didn't Vance call Burnham and Book out on that? Honestly that conversation was overdue when Burnham disobeyed orders in 'Scavengers' on Book's behalf.

The bigger question for me is the communicator discontinuity. They obviously gave some thought to this.

I don't know if it was intentional from the writers, but it's interesting that Osyraa named her flagship, Viridian, with a name that's a homonym of the system where James Kirk was killed.
