Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

I think the Ahsoka and Thrawn stuff is a partial setup for the Rebels sequel series. I don’t think Thrawn is going to show up in the show.

Also someone leaked the Bab’s name a few months ago but no one believed them.

To be fair “My friend is related to a stuntman and he told me this” is a bit playground rumour.

It’s also a weird name.
He's back for his glory!

Morai gets an audio-only cameo!

What's the point of having HK Assassin droids if they don't yell "meatbag!" at people as they murder them to death?

Not sure how I feel about beskar being quite THAT resistant to lightsabers. I mean we've seen Mandalorians cut down before. Were they not wearing beskar? Or do the rank and file commandos only get a beskar-durasteel alloy, with the pure stuff reserved for the nobility? If nothing else, Sabine's vambrace definitely wasn't darksaber proof. Indeed the reason the darksaber was invented in the first place was because Lucas didn't like the idea of a physical sword standing up to a lightsaber. Would have felt better about it if the spear eventually gave out.

Also, I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed they didn't recreate the Vader hallway scene with Ahsoka...

One assumes that if Thrawn is back, he's not a part of the same faction as Gideon. I mean it's possible, but it doesn't feel right. Indeed I'd put money on Thrawn's name being on Palpatine's list of people to execute during Operation Cinder, and I'm kinda hoping one of those creepy red messenger droids is hanging out on Gideon's command ship.

So, Tython is up next? Neat! Are we going to get to see Grogu's inevitable vision quest? Either way it should be interesting. Also since they're creeping around old ruins, would an Aphra cameo be too much to ask? Probably...

Music was on point as ever. Kline and Williams' leitmotif getting quoted, but not in a heavy handed way, and Dyn's theme given a much lighter treatment.

This is after the Rebels scene, as it was just after the Battle of Endor, somewhat 5 years ABY, this is set 9 ABY so they have been looking for 4-5 years by this time, and are apparently still looking.
I'm not so sure. Yes I know they said it was intended to be just after the war (ie: after Jakku) but given that Ahsoka 1) appears to still be chasing leads to Thrawn, and 2) is sans Sabine. A reasonable argument could be made that the Coda is yet to happen. Indeed, one could argue that working with Dyn inspired her to go pick up some permanent Mandalorian support.

Maybe Thrawn and Gideon are rivals and Thrawn is the whole reason Gideon is trying to accumulate power with the Dark Saber and force abilities?

From the Wikipedia entry:
Five years later, thanks to the Rebel Alliance's victory at the Battle of Endor, which both Hera and Rex took part in, the feared Imperial counterattack on Lothal never comes, and the Ghost crew go their separate ways. Zeb takes Kallus to Lira San to show him that he didn't truly exterminate all of the Lasat species, and that he is welcomed there as one of them. Hera and Rex continued to fight with the Rebel Alliance, and it is revealed Hera gave birth to her and Kanan's son, Jacen Syndulla. Sabine teams up with Ahsoka Tano to search for Ezra, leaving behind a mural on Lothal depicting the Ghost crew.

Expecting Sabine to wait4-5 more years after the empire ended to find Ezra is a bit of a reach.. and the fact that Ashoka is searching for Thrawn leds credence that its after since she wouldn't be searching for him or Ezra without her.

Sabine could just be on her own quest to find information separately.
Oh, also, Saw a Lothcat, and her pet Owl Morai too! she was in the trees.

There was build up for Bo katan in that they showed the darksaber and she was the last one to own it so left people wondering if she was alive and what happened to make her lose it.

Who said she'd been waiting at all? All we have for context with that scene is Sabine's narration. Ahsoka could have been coming and going from Lothal ever since Alderaan was destroyed and what we saw was simply Sabine leaving for the last time now that Ahsoka finally found a solid lead.

Indeed the fact that Bo-Katan knew where Ahsoka was indicates there's active communication between the three of them (I can hardly imagine Ahsoka keeping in contact with one and not the other.)

guess any name would have been weird.
to pop culture he is and likely always will be "Baby Yoda", to the Producers he's been "the Child" and now "Grogu" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the fandom surely will have endless debates as well.

Much preferred last weeks Jetpack/Shootout episode over this one.
the mythology things don't do it for me and the weird hat/hair/helmet lady with the light sabers took too much center stage for my taste.

Just wait until the episode where we meet The Father of The Child.

That was a pretty great episode. I don't think that Dawson was all that great as Ahsoka, but she worked well enough. Getting to see some jedi action in live action again was cool, although I thought that the villain got too much offense in against Ashoka. Learning Grogu's name was cool, I didn't expect to ever get that.

The admiral Thrawn reference was great. I doubt it will be relevant to The Mandalorian, but hopefully it sets up some spinoff or animated show. Also, we can presume that Thrawn got out of the weird time travel dimension, and it will be great to have new stories with him eventually, as opposed to just getting endless Pre/during Rebels stories with him.

Thrawn didn’t go to a “weird time travel dimension.” He and Ezra got flung into the unknown regions by the purgils.

Of course the two biggest points in this one are the fact that Baby Yoda has a name, Gorgu, and of course Ahsoka.
I Gorgu as Baby Yoda's name, it fits pretty well with Yoda and Yaddle. I had a thought this morning, maybe he's Yaddle's son, that could explain why she disappeared after Phantom Menace, she was off helping to raise and train Gorgu.
I loved what we got with Ahsoka here, Rosario Dawson really did a great job. Of course, it would have been cool to see Ashley Eckstein do it, but I'm pretty happy with Dawson. The reference to Thrawn was interesting, he must have been pretty active if he's got someone like The Magistrate working for him. My only real disappointment was the lack of any references to Ezra or Sabine.
Once again we had some great action, and even our first use of lightsabers in the series.
Michael Biehn looked familiar the entire time, but I couldn't figure out who he was until I saw his name in the credits.
It will be interesting to see if the trip to Typhon leads to any more familiar faces showing up.
One thing that is starting to kind of bug me this season is that they seem to be setting up what should be big stories, but then just moving on and not doing anything with them. First we had Boba Fett in the premiere, then we had Bo-Katan's search for the Darksaber, and now Ahsoka looking for Thrawn. I know we still have several episodes left this season, but I don't know if I can see them resolving all of that, while they are also dealing with the big arc of Din and Gorgu, and whatever Gideon is up to.

There was build up for Ashoka.
If you are a big enough geek to know who Bo and Asoka are then you probably know who Ezra and Kanan are as well. Even though it was denied he next day I'd love for this to actually be true............There was only build up because of rumors of the casting for months.

I hadn't seen any of his posts, but a couple sites I go have mentioned that he has been teasing that he might be playing Ezra for quite a while now.
