Wow, I didn't realize high end macarons were that expensive. I don't think I've ever had one.

Even compared to those, $50 for a dozen is quite overpriced for something that's basically the same product except that it says "Star Wars" on the package. These don't even have any unique flavors like you find at local shops that make macarons; all just plain almond, which is the bare-bones default because that's what they are made of, with vanilla creme.

I see Williams-Sonoma also has this one with Star Wars characters printed on the macarons. And it's $50 for only ten pieces. Outrageous!

The Darksaber toy has been included in World Against Toys Causing Harm's list of the 10 Worst Toys of 2020, saying that it's shape could cause "facial and other impact injuries". Which seems kind of obvious to me since it's a toy sword.

Yeah, I'm not sure what exactly makes that any worse than the fifteen other different toy swords that are usually on the shelf at the toy store, or the various hard plastic lightsabers that have been in stock continually ever since the prequel trilogy days.

I'm still waiting for the McFarlane Disco Phaser that will never come because they didn't want to de-accurize it with the stupid red muzzle tip that's mandated by law because apparently nobody can tell the difference between a real firearm and a toy ray gun.

What really gets me is that incident back in the spring when cops pulled out their sidearms to arrest someone dressed as a stormtrooper just because they were "armed" with a toy blaster rifle.

I heard a story about two people dressed as Borg being stopped by police for being armed due to various attachments on their costumes. They had to call in to dispatch to determine if a Star Trek convention was going on, which was right across the street.

Yes, it happens. No, people can't tell the difference. I don't blame McFarlane one bit for not wanting anything to do with that, especially after all the propositions went through in CA.

I don’t blame McFarlane one bit either. I won’t generalize and apply my disdain in this context to all cops, but yeah, a lot of it was cops accidentally shooting kids who didn’t bother to take the time to figure out what they were doing. Kids grew up with toy guns for nearly a CENTURY and now, in a recent small handful of decades, they’re getting shot for it. I don’t know what the answer is, but what they’re doing now ain’t it!

I guess some people out there won’t be happy until the entire world is made of Nerf.

And, at least in the USA, a lawsuit happy culture. California has a law were if a product has barely detectable amounts of a huge list of chemicals that might cause cancer the retailers must label it. Companies get sued for stupid things.

Our dear lawmakers in the Ruling Elite always underestimate the natural level of the average person’s rebellious nature. As a result, they spend their entire career literally trying to regulate that nature deeply engrained within the citizenry, most times to ill effect. This oftentimes results in unconsciously inciting greater rebelliousness in response, therefore requiring stricter laws. Rinse and repeat. It has become a demonstrably vicious cycle and it gets worse every generation.

I won’t generalize and apply my disdain in this context to all cops, but yeah, a lot of it was cops accidentally shooting kids who didn’t bother to take the time to figure out what they were doing.

In the case of the incident I mentioned above, it sounds like it started with a "Karen" just wanting to make someone miserable by making a 911 call to report "an armed masked figure." Though the responding cops definitely handled the matter in a very heavy handed manner, immediately pulling their guns out and screaming at the woman (yes it was a woman dressed as the stormtrooper) to drop her gun and get on the ground. She dropped the toy gun immediately, but couldn't lie down because stormtrooper armor is very restrictive and doesn't allow one to easily lie down, or really move in any kind of a prompt manner very easily. While she was very clearly struggling to get down, the cops rushed her and slammed her to the ground.
