It’s been mentioned. I’m sorry if I spoiled that for you.
Lol, so V'draysh has been mentioned while Zora's voice was used for the sphere data computer. You know, if Producers are painting themselves in the corner on purpose, that's on them. I wash my hands off the whole thing. I was perfectly happy with Calypso being outside of Prime Timeline. If Producers keep wanting to tie everything together on one hand, while completely not caring how it all comes together on the other hand, that's just too bad. I have officially stop caring about Discovery/Canon/Prime and how it all comes together....

It will never come together perfectly, no matter what what they do. And that's OK.
Then why even bother calling it Prime? JJ at least said right away, whoops Vulcan is gone, we’re not on Kansas anymore. Why can’t they do same for Discovery? Why do they care that it has to be Prime, while absolutely not doing anything about it?

Well, I’ve always felt that the inherent problem with DSC is that instead of making it a reboot where they wouldn’t have to worry about ‘making it all fit together,’ they instead went the route of ‘let’s shoehorn it all in as best we can, even though it’s going to be retcon city and will most likely invalidate what came before it, but hey, whatever! It’s our show and we’ll do what we want.’

Now the above statement is not intended to be a bash on the show itself. It’s a critique of the people in charge of it.

Because the events and characters matter more than the set dressing.

Why do they care? Because that's what the audience has demonstrated that they care about.

The problem is...no matter what they do they piss off a sizeable portion of fandom. It’s not the prime universe! “Boo!” It is the prime universe! “Yeah...But!” This doesn’t work. That doesn’t work. Nothing works for everyone. I mean, as a writer what can you do? Simply set out to tell a story as best you can. Star Trek fans are by dictionary definition anally retentive, so you’re going to enrage a significant number of them, but...what can you do?

It's still for the best for now. You don't think it could be worse but it could be worse. Trek fans are attached to the Prime universe. There's grumbling over the lack of visual continuity but the grumbling hasn't really turned into a full fandom war that I've seen yet.

Star Wars fans were attached to the old universe pre-Disney and it was promptly bulldozed. The bitterness and which canon is better fights did turn into a full fandom war, and make the Trek arguments look tame by comparison.

I just keep going back to a statement I heard from a friend of mind who worked in Hollywood, who had been inspired by SW to join the VFX field. He stated very plainly about SW (regarding the PT and the Special Editions): "George Lucas can do whatever he wants with SW and he doesn't owe fans a damn thing." Star Trek is in the same place with Prime continuity.

The promo for Unification III seems to have the Discovery exiting mycelial space more like coming out of a wormhole than it's usual way.

@ITDUDE might be time to trim that signature by about 4 lines..............#toolong

Anyway- controversial Star Trek opinions: Season 7 of DS9 was just as good as the rest of the series. Just finished my first full series rewatch in a decade and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Do you mean only as good as in wasn't better? I don't think what you said is controversial at all

I'm surprised the refit Discovery even had turbolifts, what with the micro transporters everyone's wearing. I recall Stargate Atlantis used teleport stations to get around, Disco-A should have something similar.

What a retro fit for Discovery means is that as soon as Tilley gives the order for warp drive, we will hear popping and fizzles sounds as the saucer section falls off of the rest of the ship and the springs in the wheels will not work.

A turbolift is still an economical means of getting around the ship. Also makes a great place to have a private conversation. Or canoodle, if you don't mind the risk of discovery.

Which reminds me. I hope the badges have bumpers programmed into them so you don't materialize where someone else is materializing. You could make a whole lotta Tuvixes: Michael + Saru = (Kobayashi) Maru; Stamets + Tilly = Silly; Adira + Georgiou = Adiou...
